OMG, please stop shilling for these jumped-up hustlers! They are LMC posers, who either borrow their props and sets, or are paid to shoot at various locations.

They might not truly have this background but the point is, the way they dress and live is a good representation of the style, which is what OP is asking about right?

They are not quite right, though. It looks like they are wearing costumes- WASP drag or WASP cosplay instead of real WASP. I grew up in Rhode Island - where they live - and they always strike me like people going to a WASP-themed dress up party, not real WASP. I think there's something just a little too store bought about it all, if that makes any sense.

It's a little precious, I agree. They wear all the tropes at one time too...the ll bean boot, the plaid blanket, the baby in a ralph lauren sweater etc. It's a lot.

They’re trying to sell the products as they get paid if you click through and buy, so naturally they’re loading on the merch.

Not as contrived or carefully cultivated as it is in those pics. Often rather frumpy, with a slight bent towards bohemianism in earlier years.

WASPS I know: ride, wear little makeup are long limbed, value the outdoors, sail, travel, emphasize education, cooks simple food well, have slightly dated but beautiful homes that are not McMansions, drive luxury understated cars, always wear good shoes, don’t wear rayon, are Episcopalian or Congregationalist, are well read, write hand written thank you notes, have beautiful gardens, May highlight hair but never to extremes, are careful about too much sun, don’t wear stilettos, resolve good shoes, entertain a decent amount, ski, have second homes often in Nantucket or Maine, or more remote Hamptons areas, belong to country clubs, golf, like simple cocktails, wear solid colors, like fair isle, fisherman knit, tweed, cashmere, and waxed coats, camel hair, and plaid.. are charitable, but not showy about it, look down on new money, hate labels, like crew, lacrosse, tennis, golf, skiing, club swim team. Have lots of bookshelves and wood floors, fresh cut flowers, hand towels from Yves Delorme or similar, have a penchant for early riding, eat moderately and fairly healthfully

I don't know about the deep South, but one side of my family is Virginia WASP. They are originally from Leesburg for over a dozen generations, some lived in Georgetown. 100% English in the family tree, Episcopalians. Horses, dog breeding, hunting, boats, lots of societies and clubs and lodges. The older ones have the Tidewater Virginia accent and look down their noses at many other Southerners, especially those from SW VA/Appalachia.

The bloggers especially are going overboard in their faux WASPness. It's cosplay, as 10:20 pointed out, where someone Googled "how to be a WASP" or "how to make people think I have old money" and then went HAM.

All of those are old DCUM threads I think, so maybe they get their inspiration here

This is a strange thread because it isn’t 1984 anymore. The WASP aesthetic is dying out as the country diversifies. This feels like a group of 50+ something housewives waxing nostalgic on things out of vogue. It’s frankly sort of hollow and sad.

This looks so contrived. The New England old money WASPs I know well tend to be more bohemian. A tv over the living room fire space is not WASPy.

These Patrick people are not WASPs. First of all, she wears way too much makeup to ever be a WASP. And yes, the colors are too bright and everything too perfect and styled. Like she's wearing a damn cape in some of those photos. WTF?

She is a dead ringer for Kate Middleton, though. I did a double take.

Lol. No. Maybe in that she has brown hair. That is all. Kate’s face is so much prettier.

White people mourning the end of an era and clutching desperately onto something that was exclusive and “theirs..”beyond sad
