What is that WASP aesthetic?

I am interested in this based on that bottle blonde thread. What do WASP women dress and act like?

Color me a social anthropologist!

A little preppy, but very understated. Classics— button downs, straight-fit denim, ballet flats and low-heeled pumps by classic designers. Understated but real jewelry (pearls and classic diamond studs, preferably family heirlooms). The look can go a little bit tweedy or a little bit edgy or a little bit girly, but not too much.

Long hair, but not too long. A WASP needs a classic ponytail for tennis and that perfect wind blown look for photos near on the beach next to the summer house or out on the boat. Subtle highlights, but a WASP is not going to go super bottle blonde. Most of the Wasps I know have very shiny brown hair.

Very little makeup. Clean face. A little color from outdoor activity, as a Wasp should be spending weekends and holidays boating, skiing, or relaxing at one of their family’s or family friend’s weekend homes.

Wasp icons: Gwyneth Paltrow, Jackie Kennedy, a host of socialites who have also written for Vogue at one time or another.

Gwyneth Paltrow is half Jewish. Jews really are better at everything, including being Waspy!

Sorry, but this is a bit over the top.

This is coming from a Mediterranean immigrant, so take what I say with a grain of salt. But if I had one word to describe the American WASP aesthetic and demeanor, it would be... boring. Nothing unique, nothing loud (in volume or appearance). WASPs experience revulsion and disgust at anything deemed "tacky" (read: associated with lower income and/or "ethnic"). Also, WASP parties NEVER have enough food.

Gwyneth’s mom, Blythe Danner, is a mega-Wasp. Gwyneth is actually too famous to truly be a Wasp at this point, but she was definitely one in high school (a Spence girl) and certainly translates that Wasp aesthetic for the masses.

Jackie was not technically a Wasp, but she nailed the look so well she remains an icon.
