Yes, adult children have secret service protection. That's why the Secret Service are hugely overbudget under Trump. They have to follow Donnie, Ivanka, Tiffany and Eric around as they do their business trips and vacations around the world. |
| She is 100% going to Michigan. Move on. |
| Didn't she pick Michigan so she could go with 2 of her friends? That doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. Wish I'd had one of my very good high school friends with me when I went from a sheltered all-girls school to the Ivy League. It would have helped. |
| Good school, close to Chicago, couldn't get into hyp...not sure why this is a question. |
| I went to Michigan and never realized I was supposed to be ashamed of it, and that people would point and laugh at me in the streets. Silly me. |
Former president's children over the age of 16 continue to have Secret Service protection. Immediate family of current president have Secret Service protection -- and all those Trump kids travel far more internationally and lavishly than their predecessors, which drives up the cost. |
This is incorrect. Children of Presidents have protection up to 16 years old. The kids do not have protection while in college. Read your article. |
Lol |
| I'm only shocked because Michigan is way to cold. I would have picked Berkeley or some place warmer |
Didn't Chelsea and the Bush twins have protection in college? I remember reading about it, and of course the Bush twins had a few jinks of their own and the protection weren't allowed to get involved other than just make sure they were not under threat. |
Chelsea was in college while her father was still president (at least she started). Same with Jenna and Barbara Bush. The rules were changed during Obama's presidency to give former presidents' lifetime protection (post-Clinton to Obama it was limited to 10 years thanks to a law Congress passed). The Obama-era legislation specifically limited post-presidency children to age 16 or younger. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/obama-restores-lifetime-secret-service-for-former-presidents/ |
Their dads were president while they were in college. Sasha is no longer a child of a president but child of an former president. |
As has been stated over and over on this thread, she got into Yale, but is going to Michigan. |
Wrong. Children of current presidents are entitled to protection whether they are 5 or 45.
