| WHCA is walking away from this ugly freak’s routine. Probably too late to salvage the dinner in the future. |
it's just the way the camera captured the photo at that moment. I have pics of my kids that had similar looks when they were young and I panicked thinking there was something wrong and consulted the pediatrician who assured me it was just the photo and no issue
Sorry to disappoint you. |
That's my reaction. I thought Wolf's bit was funny in parts, some jokes fell flat, whatever, but the reaction of people who are always complaining about "snowflakes" needing "safe spaces" is just too rich. The comedian ALWAYS makes fun of people at this thing--politicians and journalists. Maybe her jokes were more pointed than others', but the faux outrage is just ridiculous, coming from people whose commitment to "civility" apparently started at about the same time Wolf started speaking and not a second sooner. |
Exactly. I also think the Aunt Lydia comparison was pretty apt. She's the woman doing the dirty work for the patriarchy. She's not the only one, but she's the one the press has to deal with. They are being incredibly hypocritical and cowardly. Trump's attacks on the MSM work because the 24hour news networks destroyed journalism. |
How much civility is there in the WH press room anyway? How civil have these press secretaries been toward the journalists that attempt to get answers from them? Why should these people attempt to be civil to each other when wearing black tie when they are terrible toward each other on a daily basis? |
It was cowardly to do so when pretending to celebrate the first amendment. |

OK, I said posted earlier to say that I usually hate roasts because they're too mean, but I just read WaPo's annotated transcript of her routine, and I found it funny and not overly nasty, except that one reference to the woman who died on Southwest. She's not a politician or public figure, so she doesn't deserve it. But apart from that, I thought it was NOT over the top. I would think the same if she had skewered another administration. |
I thought it was pretty funny. The things these nut jobs will pull out of their a$$ is breathtaking sometimes.
|
Nope. Just the ones who voted for a vile, selfish scumbag. Hint: rhymes with rump. |
Hey moron, there is "choice in politics" when you choose to do it honorably. Meaning don't spin lies and propaganda all day. When you choose to lie and fabricate everything, then it's not a choice. SHS is a vile human being. |
|
shs lies for a living. I have zero respect for her...or pity for her when she is called on it.
I thought Michelle Wolf was pretty damn brave to do it to her face. It takes guts to say something like that - which is 100% true - to their face. |

I think we're having the wrong debate. I think the bigger issue is why such a dinner even exists. For journalism to maintain objectivity, I don't think there should be this sort of smug, schmoozing that goes on with the WHCD.
Roasts are fine, but they are in the realm of entertainment and comedy. I don't think journalists/journalism should be involved. As it stands, one of the problems we have today (that has nothing to do with any one administration or any one political party) is the overlap of news and entertainment. That's a trend that has been going on for the last decade, and it's not a good one. If anyone really cares about journalism, the integrity of reporting, then they'll support maintaining some boundaries. And I think the WHCD pushes those boundaries in ways that are not helpful. Comedians should do their thing. The press should do its thing. Keep them separate. Combining them actually calls into question the integrity of both. Part of what comedians do (and historically have always done) is push the boundaries of dialogue. Journalists and the press, however, are supposed to be about reporting the news in an unbiased way. They should not merge. And events that kind of blur the lines only make this infotainment trend worse. |
Telling SHS she's a liar right to her face? Living the dream. |
Honestly? For people who are disgusted by the outright lies this administration tells us on a daily basis...it is a dream to be able to tell them that they are lying liars who lie. I honestly sit in my living room some days when this sorry excuse is on my screen and want to throw things at my tv when she opens her mouth and absolute horseshit flies out of it. |
| The monologue was spot on - SHS and the entire Trump team got exactly what they deserved - honest assessment of their falseness. |
