Boundary Review Meetings

I was on the virtual option for tonight's meeting at Madison, about 90 people total in person and online. At the very end just before they ended the Zoom session there was a hot mic moment where someone from FCPS (the facilities manager I think) said "This is really feeling like a big waste of time." Oops.

Agreed - these meetings in October when the maps are out are going to be huge events if this next round of maps is as sloppy as last ones

The meetings are a waste of time or the boundary changes are a waste of time?

I heard that too. Didn’t think it was a fcps staff but someone online stating that.

Agree. At meeting last night, they said they are using current start times in the transportation study. However, when asked if the transportation study data is going to be released with the new scenario they were like oh let me make note of that. Pressed point that boundary changes without data backing up rationale says they are just doing what they want and all this community engagment is just smoke/mirrors for them to do what they want.

I don’t know why we pay Reid the big bucks and she doesn’t even show up at these meetings. She sends the new Facilities head, who has only been with FCPS a few months and clearly doesn’t know the schools or underlying issues yet. And she retained an out-of-state consultant who couldn’t be doing a worse job.

Reid needs to be fired.

Or you could do some research and find out how Reid was doing to same things as Brabrand when she was in Washington State. Then she came here and created new problems. She’s so out of her depth here that it would be funny if it weren’t so pathetic.

Maybe, it was aggravated by a School Board who couldn't do a decent job search. Maybe, that is why they did not get decent applicants--or, maybe, they had decent applicants they did not want.

I would fire Reid immediately and make Ricardy Anderson the acting superintendent. She is one of the only School Board members with both brains and a spine.

I don't agree with her on many issues, but Anderson does come prepared. And, she does seem to have common sense.
