I think it's because ES have staggered times. So some will start at 7:45 a.m. and others at 8:10. Our ES is a 9:20 a.m. start right now and would get pushed 30 minutes to 9:50 a.m.

Because they don't have enough busses to start every elementary school at exactly the same time. Roughly half are lucky and get the early start times and everyone else gets screwed.

It's not really about luck, it's about programming. AAP centers and various special needs centers (like the deaf and hard of hearing pyramid) will get the late time because buses have to come from all over the county. Regular neighborhood schools will get the earlier times. Everyone should already be able to tell which their school is.

Not all of the AAP centers are late schools.

There absolutely are some AAP centers that start 9:20-can’t name off top head, but if you search old threads on DCuM or go to BoardDocs, they list times by school for all ES in one of the presentations last year

For example, Keene Mill starts at 9:15 and White Oaks at 9:20.

We are an earlier start school 8:40 and we always needed before and after care and our SACC already has a ton of families that need both.

Before care is way harder to find as several places only do afternoons.

One of my neighbors went to one last week and she said it was valuable only because there were so few people there, she was able to talk to staff. There wasn't any new info on the boundaries, though.

There are some pairings that actually would have made sense. Marshall should have been paired with Madison, since they are cleaning up a lot of borders between Thoreau and Kilmer. McLean should have been paired with Falls Church or Marshall because of the ripple effects of cleaning up Timber Lane/Graham Road/Pine Spring/Shrevewood.

This really sucks for teachers and trying to find new positions if some of there ridiculous changes go through and they keep the transfer window so short.

I teach at a 9:20 school. I can’t even imagine starting later and getting out so late!

Very interesting to put WSHS last and paired with LB when there are changes affecting both with neighborhoods that touch.

West Springfield has not had a single meeting yet over this 2 year process, in violation of policy 8130.
