Boundary Review Meetings

I think first one is tonight at Justice HS- anyone there and can report back? Curious what the focus will be when there are no new maps. I plan to go to a later one for our pyramid.

Consultants are not present. There are no new maps, they will be presented 9/24.

Some schools have apparently have been told they will be moved, but were never part of any of the scenarios.

Each of these meetings will be the same, so you can attend any of the meetings.

What schools have been told that they will be moved?

It was Crestwood.

Listening on line and the Board seems to not know what is going on or even to have any power. The consultants appear to be running the show.

A lot of polite questions that are honestly showing the Board to seem ill prepared and not knowing what they are doing. They are coming across as incompetent.

Really pernicious that they’d rope more schools into the process at this late hour. I’d be so fricking mad.

Did they say where Crestwood is getting rezoned to?

That would be a huge amount of students moved out of Lewis.

That’s shocking. That wasn’t on any of the maps and they are pretty close to Lewis (well, all of Lewis’s boundaries are fairly close except perhaps the furthest ends of Saratoga).

Do we think this is some kind of move of Crestwood to WSHS and Hunt Valley to Lewis?

That’s just stupid but I’ve said this whole time that crazy maps have already been decided.

But we need more context. Who was at the meeting and heard anyone say specifically that Crestwood is moving?

That’s also a huge shift in student access. Many of the Crestwood families don’t have the transportation to get themselves to WSHS for events.

Makes no sense so yeah, that’s probably what they’re looking at doing.

That would allow them to move all of Hunt Valley to Lewis.

Dumb. The two neighborhoods passing each other on the bus to go to high school.

The only other place I could see Crestwood ending up would be Annandale but they’d definitely need to make a coordinating move of something out of Annandale in return (to Falls Church or Justice, I’m guessing) and can either of those schools accept a whole additional elementary at this point?

Perhaps Crestwood to WSHS and West Springfield Elementary or Keene Mill Elementary to Lewis?

They are both closest to Lewis.

Keene Mill would give the Lewis pyramid AAP.

West Springfield Elementary is under the Franconia district school board rep thanks to Jeff McKay
