Open borders was a complete DISASTER for DEMOCRATS, yet they continue with wanting to protect CRIMINALS. Why?

No they want to protect the rule of law.

The fact that MAGAots continually identify Democratic policies as "Progressive" and Extreme is a sign of how far off the rails we've gone. In any othe industrialized country, the Democrats would be a Center-right party. Other than a few legislators who identify with DSA, mainstream Democratic policies at the national level are relentlessly Centrist.

Feeling so hopeless and just want to do something. Can’t believe it’s gotten so bad. Do we just wait and watch the bleeding continue? How do we stop the bleeding? Collectively, surely we can do something? Jeff, I’ve been reading your blog posts - clearly you are very knowledgeable and bright. Any ideas?

Most polls still have Trump over 45% approval. While that is not great - it still makes him politically “safe” and hard to challenge.

If his numbers continue to go down on economy his overall approval will come down then maybe congress will challenge him more.

Hillary Clinton and the untouchable 45% lives on

Democrats are starting to progress from denial to anger. dcurbanmom is a great barometer. For the past two months, Dems have been “resisting” like it’s 2017, hoping Trump voters “regret what they’ve done” etc. Now the reality of the Democratic Party’s implosion is starting to set in, and Democrats are pissed! There’s a lot more anger, aggression, and swearing on here lately. Depression and acceptance probably won’t kick in until Dems lose in 2026 and 2028. But there has been a loss, there is something to grieve. Democrats are out of power now and their old power structurea are being dismantled.

You guys keep trying to frame this as oh the Dems are just upset their person lost, yada yada. The Dems and everyone besides MAGA are freaking out bc they see the US turning into a fascist country. None of it is normal. Dismantling the government, getting into trade wars, getting rid of checks & balances, upsetting our allies, intimidating politicians so they toe the line. And if you weren’t in a cult and were looking from the outside in—you would say the same.

Was that the video on X with six white female friends on the sidewalk?

What do we do??

We treat these people like the fascists they are, we fight. We use every tool at our disposal to stop their efforts to dismantle the law and install their corrupt government. We hold our congressmen and senators accountable, and show up and make their lives miserable until they conduct oversight. We take notes. And then we run candidates with a positive and coherent strategy for expanding opportunities for all Americans and keeping corporations accountable. Come on guys. You’re never going to win by trying to understand the minds of a cult member. Just be stronger, more compelling and relentless. Don’t be like Chuck Schumer.

Don't engage with MAGA. But, I will say the Dems need to have snappy comebacks to "open borders" and "criminals" and on.

Our policies are fine. The majority support: gun reform, access to safe abortion, strong economy, low employment, and low crime. More a Dem issues: the environment and human rights (including voting, DEI, LGBTQIA). The only thing at major issue is how far to take those human rights. But, that's very nuanced and neither side is handling it well. Also, this last admin was more lax on immigration than other Dems, so the perception is that Dems don't care about immigration, but again there is a lot to discuss there. But, we've stopped talking.

Remember in 2020 there was no GOP platform, so people were voting on nothing.

“Missouri, 34 dead from tornado?”

Thoughts and prayers.

We’ll get to see how the newly crippled FEMA works, or doesn’t.

Biden was a Centrist. Name a single "Progressive" policy that he advocated or obtained from Congress.

Fixing infrastructure! How Communist!

All they need to do is point to an immigration reform bill. Republicans aren’t acting on it either, just letting the fascist in chief break the law.

We’ll see a lot of this. Dems won’t win any national elections until 2036 at the soonest. Ambitious Dems will start switching parties.

Dems did point to the immigration reform bill. And Dems loved it. Regular voters, however, did not buy it. Dems are seen as the party of illegal immigration, and after the past four years, that’s not going to change in any of our lifetimes.
