+100 That is 100% the issue. Dems simply dismiss opinions/beliefs because it doesn't jive with theirs - that's the problem. With certain things there is no right/wrong. But Dems have made a blanket stance on all of their political and social issues - they drew the line in the sand. Well guess what, the majority of the people voted to erase that line in the sand. |
Nah. Just another post where a voter tells us they are voting based on GOP propaganda. That is the real story. The GOp is simply better at lying and fear mongering. |
I guess you just proved my point. I am a Democrat/Harris voter and I saw this coming from a mile away. I am shocked that it was a landslide! |
I’m sure this is just me but I do feel like the more niche issues get too much traction with democratic candidates as covered in traditional media. I have a child in a rainbow club, for kids to talk about lgbtq issues. However - watching msnbc on election night, as much or more time was devoted to having the first openly transgender House Rep elected, than on the race taking out one of our best Senators, Sherrod Brown.
It’s not just insane RWNJs elevating the trans conversation and I’m sick of it. I don’t care. Civil rights for all but let’s talk more about “lived economy” experiences and what the current tech/AI moment means for all workers at all incomes. |
Yes, we underestimated how desperate white men were to cling to their status. |
The GOP is def much better at lying and fear mongering. But at the same time the Dems are awful on the culture war stuff. The majority of Americans do not want to have a teacher explaining to their 5 year old what trans is, do not want to encourage illegal immigration, and do not want to worry about being cancelled over microaggressions. Dems will have to face these facts if they want to appeal more broadly. |
OMG - again with the "white men" rhetoric when I didn't mention it all in my post - FWIW, I'm a professional working mother who has a son who is a white man and it's posts like yours that make me regret voting for Harris. |
No you proved nothing. You have no coherent argument. A majority voted for a strong man who lied and told them “I will fix it”. This isn’t about no one listening to your opinion boo hoo. This is the same thing humans do time and again. And we’ll all suffer for it until the pain wakes you suckers up. |
Completely agree with what some of previous posters have said. I feel like the Democrat party does a terrible job of messaging and focusing on issues that are wildly out of touch with the concerns of majority of the country. I proudly voted for Harris but can understand better why so many people are fed up with Democrats.
-Democratic party assumes that all black/brown people think the same. No, I'm not interested in defunding the police or being soft on crime. Want my kids to grow up in a safe environment just like everyone else -Favor equal rights for everyone but left leaning media should not spends hundreds of hours talking about bathroom politics -extreme focus on political correctness, proper speech (again irrelevant to majority of people) -identity politics, way too much emphasis. Again as a minority I care more about economy and safety of my children then focusing on proper pronouns My working class single, immigrant mother was a lifelong Democrat and Bill Clinton fan. What attracted her to Democratic party was that she felt like it represented voice for everyday Americans. I remember her saying that she did not care who he slept with or what affairs he lied about because at the end of the day she had to get food on the table and that was her number 1 motivation. |
And I would counter by saying that it was the GOP propaganda that pushed these ideas to the forefront and exaggerated them GREATLY to achieve their fear mongering. The GOP is the real source of the culture wars because it’s good for their business. Only an ignorant person thinks the vanishingly small number of trans people in this country is a cause for national concern. GOP attacks a vulnerable group so they can claim they will address a nonexistent problem. GOP could have addressed immigration a long time ago but it’s a winning wedge issue for them. Nothing works like stoking the xenophobia, amirite? There are real serious problems out there the GOP doesn’t want you to notice they are causing or ignoring. So they distract you with culture wars. |
Of course yes. But the left played right into their hands by making unpopular issues front and center. |
Since dems lost voters in all demographic groups, there’s a bigger story here. It’s the economy! Most can’t afford to buy a house! The prices are crazy high. Rent is also insane. The cost of milk is ridiculous.
I voted dem, but I was wincing at Kamala’s campaign pushing “joy”. Come on..people are not feeling joyful about their lives right now. |
Why isn’t anyone talking about the two news realities we are living in and the impact of online media? I’m a liberal who tracks red news and it was shocking how conservatives were not exposed to headlines or stories that were all over mainstream media! Even headlines like “they’re eating the dogs and cats” didn’t make it on Fox News. Instead there were pieces interviewing locals who had lost a dog or cat.
Dems need to aggressively market themselves online. We also need some rich guy to set up an entertainment site that goes after the uneducated but spoon feeds them liberal news. Sneak the vegetables in (real news) with the sugar (crap entertainment). |
Bernie Sanders called it right away because he knows what’s up. And people here have freaked out since 2016 demonizing him and his supporters - yes I voted for her in the general. No, “stronger together” and “bring in the joy against the weirdos” aren’t compelling messages on a national level to adults with any f—-ng sensitivity to adults who aren’t quite making it in this country. |
Yes, she needed more "they're eating the cats! Puerto Rico is a floating island of garbage!" to show sensitivity to adults. |
