They dont hold auditions for every single possible role that a child at that level can do. Some things like clown for instance need a certain skill or jumping or cartwheels etc. I am pretty sure flower pages are in the second act and they give flowers to the prince and Clara and then they sit in the chairs on the side of the stage for most of act two - so fun for the kids as they get to watch most of the show. I think they have the animal masks too if I remember correctly? Like frog and bear?

I think the flower pages are in the beige/gold costumes holding cherry blossom branches dancing with the bees and mushrooms early in the second act. I think they may have cut this role from the dance last year when they had reduced cast sizes. I remember this role when my daughter was a mushroom in 2019.

I just want to say that I really appreciate the veteran Nutcracker parents here who can give this level of detail about the ballet, various roles, etc. Thank you so much — v helpful to us first-timers! What role was your daughter cast in this year?

Also Donna's Q&A tomorrow will be helpful for clearing up any more questions. She is great at painting the picture.

Because I just can’t wait for this afternoon’s Q and A I was wondering if anyone knows the significance of the contacts listed under “fellow mates directory”? I know we’re a month off from cast assignments so I was wondering who the contacts are appearing in that list. Are they parents of kids in the same role?

Nothing is official in those slots yet. After this weekend they will get their "real" official roles...aka not just Snow Angel, but Snow Angel #8 or Soldier #4. Eventually all of the other Snow Angel #8s or Soldier #4 will be listed there

Can someone who was at the meeting clarify about the tea party fundraiser? If we buy tickets for the fundraiser, but our daughter has to perform does that mean that she can't attend the tea party?

I heard it as her suggesting that it would be difficult to perform and attend the tea, so only buy tickets if your performing child isn’t performing at the tea.

This. In past years pre covid, there were some casts that were at the Tea to greet guests. Once they send out info for the Tea, you will know if there will be performers there.
