It's a motorized bicycle.
If the bike rider exceeds 20 mph, it is motorcycle. Don't do that unless you have a class M license. |
In DC, that's a motorcycle. The website doesn't moped anywhere. Thanks for playing. |
It doesn’t have a seat post and exceeds 20 MPH. But it has pedals. You are going through a lot of trouble to just not admit that the regulations have a lot of loopholes.
|
This electric mountain bike can go 45 MPH. Is it a “dirt bike”?
|
Yet, this is a “Dirt” E-Bike with a top speed of only 31 MPH. Tell me smart guy, which should be banned and why? How can police officers easily tell the difference between what is legal and what isn’t? Try as you might, it is not possible to concoct a set of rules that would only ban the Black kids you want out of your neighborhood and not a lot of other stuff.
|
| Do give it a rest with provocations and made up stories. This has nothing to do with race. It has to do with the fact that last night, like almost every end of the week night, illegal vehicles terrorized neighborhoods at 100db+ and unsafe streets until past 4am. They negatively impact everyone, no matter the race, and for what? Cheap kicks for the few? Cut it out, I’ll vote for anyone that puts a stop to this in any manner. |
Please address which of the three “bikes” above should be banned and why. |
| I don’t need to do any of that. Easy to solve — Philly Rochester New York New Haven etc are moving. It’s coming |
Is this some type of coded language? I don’t understand what you are saying. What do these cities have to do with vehicle regulation in DC? How do DC regulations address all of these different vehicle types? Should motorized bikes, including e-bikes, just be banned? |
Here’s which; don’t owe you a why beyond that it’s basically illegal, antisocial and terrorizing: |
To start, any bike that is super loud. Each to check with a db meter. Those quieter E-bikes are also much weaker, so have them try doing wheelies on those. Also require that every motorcycle, ATV and E-Bike be licensed and registered. That gets rid of any loopholes. |
It could be registered as a motorcycle since top speed exceeds 20 mph. |
You can't register any dirt bike, electric or otherwise. I don't see any functional pedals that would let your register as an electric bike. |
| This thread has gone completely off the rails. No one cares about hairsplitting over what counts as a dirt bike. That’s not really the main issue here. |
