Loud ATV drivers at night? City government? Police?

The obvious solution is to have children on ATVs ride in the bike lanes. At least then someone would get some use out of them?

I literally just saw one of these on the road driving in traffic.
https://arielrider.com/products/x-class-52v?variant=37498729889968

It has pedals, but the person riding it was not using them. It had no tags. The rider was in traffic and then switched to the sidewalk when traffic backed up and then went back into the road.

Is this a:
- bicycle
- motorbike
- dirt bike

You could claim it was all three, however the pedals seem superficial. It has an advertised maximum speed of 30 MPH, but there are tons of videos in Youtube with speed mods to make it go faster.

People that want to ban dirt bikes really need to come to terms with what’s happening in the e-bike market right now.

So many solutions. Need political will and some home pride.

Nothing really to preserve about the current hellscape. No girls in sight either (to the PP who implied it’s the children riding).

Note how the NYT video glamorizes the riders by using slo mo camera with nice music over. Had they filmed the actual sound it would be unwatchable

I’m in favor of some sort of low tech (pay people to rat them out, surround and impound, speed bumps on all the streets of interest, no gas in DC) and high tech solution (registration and vehicle tagging with trackers (you ride in DC, we legally stick on a tracker) so can find them at home, acoustic cameras, progressive fines filed automatically). Would love to see a road surface film developed that makes it impossible to do wheelies but is safe for others.

You want to put a film on the road that intentionally causes accidents? I can't quite put my finger on why but that seems like a bad idea.

For a first offense, the penalty for wheelies definitely should be severe brain trauma. Second offense paralysis. Definitely need to fund DARPA with billions to develop the technology.

What are you trying to get at mentioning girls? Is the implication that it’s only young (Black) men do they’re more deserving of state violence?

Such a deliberately warped interpretation. It means exactly what it says — that there are plenty of children not taking part in the lawnmower parades.

Re surface film, obviously it’s a deterrent that would be advertised to prevent lawnmower infestation. Different road surfaces and applications have been used for various traffic behavioral change for a long time.

The easiest thing is build a park and go there. But the draw is maximum disruption

Imposing consequences on those flaunting their illegal, reckless, anti-social behavior is "state violence"?

Enforcement would have a disparate impact on underprivileged minorities. Ergo, we cannot, and will not, enforce anything.

Move someplace else if you don’t like it.

This is the crux. Pathetic.

It took 11 pages, but finally! “Thugs”. Perfect.

If the shoe fits... (and it does!)

DC has made itself pathetic for quite a long time.

You’ve been thinking way too long and hard about how to use the state power to injure the people riding these vehicles. That’s not normal.

Please no more special privileges for any particular group. If this was a violent motorcycle gang of marauding immigrants they would have deported them a long time ago!

Or even if it was white teenagers.
