That is so horrible. Did he survive?

I guess the driver is still alive.

Just saw it in the morning news that another Uber driver was shot in SE What is wrong with our city?

Maybe the criminals are not fearful of being caught or, if caught, not seriously prosecuted.

Inevitably followed by near vigilantism. As long as the city government has decided that it will not protect the people from crime, look to the vigilantism to increase.

Why do dc residents keep voting for soft on crime politicians?

I wonder if the fancy stores in urban centers entice some young people, who cannot afford the clothing but strongly desire them, to rob the stores. No one robs clothings in Walmart.

This stuff is resold on ebay or sold at flea markets. A lot of stolen goods are on ebay.

Most DC residents don’t really pay attention to local politics. Not sure why.

I watched the Ward 3 Dem meeting with Matt Frumin this week. It was a 1.5 hour meeting. ZERO mention of the crime issue plaguing the city. It was shocking. It was all about bike lanes, affordable housing, and postal delivery issues.

I cannot believe that a good number of people were not thinking about it.

Let’s see how this holds up if the number of gun crimes and carjackings in Ward 3 continues at the same pace for the rest of 2023

This is how official stats lie. The victim was an Uber driver right outside of his car letting out a passenger when he was punched in the face and the criminal jumped in his car and drove away. As a result, it is not being officially counted as a carjacking.

Rolls Royce stolen last night on 13th street. They bumped into the car and when the driver got out they stole it. Another “not a carjacking” carjacking.

Lots of people are really into self-flagellation. The more it hurts the better.

No one has ever been arrested.

The carjackers dumped the car not far from Bowser's home, ironically, near the MD line, and were observed cleaning it with bleach over several hours. One neighbor called 311, not the best choice. Calling 911 or the precinct likely would have resulted in an arrest. Now, it will likely take one running their mouth at some later point. There was Ring camera footage, but it was of no use in identifying the suspects. Terrible, and it is hard to believe how much worse things have gotten in a year.
