2025 Girls Lax WCAC + ISL Outlook

Anonymous
SR allowed their Freshmen A players to play swing with Varsity. They had benefit of practicing with the older girls. Guaranteed the SSSAS freshmen will all be on B travel teams next fall because a bunch of the other girls just got better.

Have seen a handful of school postings, but not the full list from the league.

This conversation only really applies to SR, GC and SSSAS. Most of SSSAS, GC and SR JV would make the rest of the ISL's varsity teams.

Even then, most of the true A girls are at minimum swing players by sophomore year because these 3 coaches know the value of at least getting them into varsity practices even if they aren't getting into games.

Those rankings don't mean a whole lot now and won't next year when they will falter in post season again because of it.

Not quite sure the “fluffy” regular season schedule is what caused their poor performance in the playoffs. These girls are exhausted. The season is very long and when you combine that with preseason, it is a super long season of lacrosse. It is both a mental and physical challenge. After a rough loss against SR in the championship I have no doubt the Saints girls were not just mentally out of it. Don’t really know who else you want them to play as they are required to play everyone in the ISL AA division and most VISSA opponents. I would love to see all you parents that are judging and criticizing their season, go out there and play for 6 months straight.

Such a typical Saints blow hard dad excuse and deflection. KJ chooses her schedule, particularly her Spring Fling opponents. Langley - "Come on man". As far as the other excuses and deflection, they are garbage. SR, Visi and PMAC all endure the same season and travails. Your self-worth shouldn't be so tied to your daughter's team's success or failure.

Hey Potomac dad: It wasn't a Saints dad who called you that. It was a Potomac parent--just so you know.

Fight, fight, fight!

Is this a VISSA Game? That will be a great rematch. I know the Potomac girls are itching for a big win to end their close tight knit groups season on a high note but also see them failing under these big stakes when it gets close. If the saints are hot it’s a different ball game however. Really can go either way just depends on what team brings there better A game.

“their close tight knit groups season”

WTF?

I think he's confusing the relationship of all the blowhard dads on the sidelines for actual friendship between the players.

Yes. And today they will all love their coach who they love to talk negatively about all the time.

Too bad they couldn't "travel" when SR beat them on their home turf.

Very bitter Saints dad.

Saints will be back in full force next year. Potomac get that done in the finals. Good luck!! Don’t get cocky. Move the ball, share the ball and spread out.

News flash! you don’t get better playing on varsity you get better working on your own and training in the off-season! That’s why you’re on JV!

That’s not true at sssas. There is no space on varsity and will be no space next year. Even if there were space KJ doesn’t
sub. Rising sophomores are really screwed. Even if you’re on a top club team how do you get recruited if you’re on JV?

Leave and go to a school that will play your kid as a starter. Even if the school isn’t as good your kid will get to play against top teams, will get a chance at contributing and getting recognized for it which helps with recruiting. Will also have a chance at team honors like All ISL or WCAC or Met or whatever. Builds your kids lax resume. You will have no chance at getting better on JV playing rec level lacrosse. And when you leave get an actual commitment from the coach.

This! Staying at a top high school but not playing doesn't build skills for college. Move to a school where your girl will play against those hard teams! It's a hard decision because of the clout to say you play for whomever. But it's also a decision they will eventually make when they decide on a college. Be on a D1 top ** team but play small amounts, or else join a team when they get to play the game they love!
Clemson built their entire roster initially from girls on top teams who were 2nd and 3rd string so were not seeing significant play time.

Agree. If I am a coach that needs to fill a hole I would be recruiting from the SSSAS underclassmen. These parents can easily afford to move their kids and if you give them a promise to make them better on your varsity team then I bet they would move. BI and Potomac make the most sense and it would be win win for everyone (and you could beat up on the Saints for a couple years to prove their all in on the class of 26 is a mistake…no titles and no program building)

Academically, SSSA is more on par with BI than Potomac.

Agree. Potomac 25 class going to top schools in country.

I was at the game. That didn’t happen. Potomac boys were fine, and only their own admin person shut them down when they mocked the goalie when she was pulled at the end of the 2nd quarter.

Folks should take what they’re reading with a grain of salt.

I second this- the Potomac students did bring their A game support wise but nothing crazy. Our saints girls just couldn't control the ball on their side and I think those boys played a big part in that.

Potomac student body fans have a motto: "We only attend away semi-final games!" They were no shows when they hosted a crucial semi-final match last week against SR.

That’s bc most of the junior snd senior fans were at their own tennis, boys lax and softball games.

STAB won. Should be a good final VISAA game on Monday.
