SJC has wins over Boys Latin and LaSalle from Philly. BL is very young this year; they might not even make the MIAA playoffs. Expect them to bounce back next Spring. LaSalle is a strong program, not in the same domain as Malvern Prep or Haverford, but they are a very quality opponent. |
| No magic to GC’s rise. Pay to play. Smith is a persuasive recruiter and GC is reasonably priced compared to the other privates. |
Prep also beat St. Mary's, who just beat Calvert Hall. |
|
If you go six deep in each league it’s pretty even all the way down.
PVI v Bullis is a wash to slight PVI favorite. GP v SJC is a wash Landon v GC is a Landon favorite STA v Gonzaga is a Gonzaga favorite Episcopal v Heights is a wash SSSAS v DeMatha is probably a slight DM favorite |
Didn’t the Heights just beat up on STA? How are they a wash against a team STA just beat comfortably? I’d also say Dematha over SSSAS, but agree on the rest. |
|
The Heights beat STA yesterday 8-7. I wouldn't say they beat up on them.
PVI vs Bullis is a toss-up, as is GP vs SJC. Landon is a def favorite over GC Gonzaga would be a def favorite over STA EHS vs the Heights is a toss-up, as is SSSA vs DeMatha. |

So we are back to imagining hypothetical matchups... I think I prefer the comparative score analysis approach. Almost as bad, but at least not imaginary.
Maybe we should analyze likely IAC and WCAC playoff seedings and outcomes. And keep advocating for a 1 game championship at the end of it. But imaginary games? Yawn. |
Just look at both national rankings and you will see that the ISC. And WCAC are about equal. Equally mediocre. |
| Score predictions for Prep v Bullis? |
6-5 bullis. |
| 7-4 Bulldogs |
| St. John’s score? |
O’Connell beat Ryken a week and a half ago. |
| Prep v Bullis hard to call. Both teams have impressive wins and curious losses. Whoever plays smart / disciplined game wins, IMO. |
Should be an exciting game to watch tomorrow evening at GP. In my eyes, Bullis will need to score more than 6 goals (what they did against Landon last week) if they are expecting to win. Prep has the edge in depth as Bullis plays fewer than 15 kids. If Bullis can prevent giving up transition opportunities, control the tempo, and make it a slower 6v6 setting, I think they can sneak out a victory. Prep is good in transition and off re-starts, especially if the ball is in Hahn's stick. Cant wait, should be a great contest. I think Prep finds a way to win, Hoyas 10, Bullis 8. |
