This is true. Excited to see if the Oakton staff can finish out the year undefeated to win States. That is a hard task at any level - going undefeated takes real work! |
Chantilly and South Lakes coaches also did an amazing job.
Chantilly may have finished 0-5 in the district but they are a top 15 team. Extremely improved over prior years and some talented young players. Class act over there with the players & parents on & off the field. Any other district and they would be going to regionals. South Lakes surprised everyone and is probably the most improved team in the district. Finished top 3 in the district and nobody even had them in the top 4. Lot of talented players and they play a very nice team game with at least 4 strong offensive threats. Not sure they get the respect they deserve in a such a tough district but a shout out to the Seahawks as they are just outside the top 5 in VA 6A. |
Great point about the chantilly and south lakes coaches. You don’t need an undefeated season to be a good coach and make a difference.
Oakton is a good team, but are definitely showing signs of weakness and cville could have won that game. See you in regionals |
Doesnt sound like someone is happy with their coaches |
Said every team that loses by less than seven goals. When Centerville tied the game, Oakton scored the next three goals, when SSSA tied the game with two minutes left, Oakton scored the next goal, when Bullis went up by two, Oakton scored the next three. There’s a trend here. You don’t get to 15-0 by accident. |
I still think Robinson will pull it together and make a run. Regionals should be very interesting |
The difference between any of these coaches is minimal. The team with the best kids wins, coaching affects like 2% of the outcome, max. If you think your team isn’t well coached, it’s really being outplayed by better girls. I’m sure ever on here has a daughter that’s the best kid on their team and it’s probably the other girls.
Coaching matters when both teams have Notre Dame, UVA, JMU, and DU commits. I’m willing to say maybe 10% when it’s that high level and even. The evidence to my thesis is that a coach who had better kids every year in Public school (and won tons of games and championships), left for the ISL, under performed and gets destroyed in their thread every day (and they have all those commits and lost). My point, if your coach is a good person who is a positive life influence on your daughter, be content. He/she is not much better or worse than anyone else. |
Agreed. Well said!!! |
I don’t have a dog in the Oakton/Centerville back and forth, but it really strains credulity for Centerville to rag on Oakton coaches and players, and blame the refs, since Centerville has lost to every competitive team it’s played, Madison, Robinson, Battlefield, South Lakes, and Oakton twice (not to mention McLean). Beating up lesser teams and running up the score doesn’t make you a good team. |
Yep. These parents who are bash their own coach and address them inappropriate ways need to get off their high horse and take a look at themselves. |
Centreville had running clock on McLean 19-6 was final… |
Might want to inform Centerville’s web guy, the site shows McLean as a loss. |
Wondering if any Centreville parents will step up and say any positive comments to the opponents they lost too. There must be some parents over there who believe in the USA Lacrosse Code of Conduct: respect for teammates (includes coaches), opponents, officials, and spectators. |
With all this chatter about Cville and Oakton has either team ever won a state championship or even played in one? |
Did Concorde post their all district picks yet? |
