“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled," Justice Alito writes in an initial majority draft

Democrats want the focus to stay on the opinion and not the leak because the opinion is devastating for Republicans. Republicans are trying to get everyone to focus on the leak rather than the opinion for exactly the same reason. I doubt Schiff knows who leaked it or even which side of the Court it came from, and there’s no political value for him in speculating. The substance of the decision is the better focus even if it came from one of Alito or Thomas’s clerks.

Great points here, and more reasons why a leak from the left makes no sense.

Also, the entire GOP is about to get exactly what they’ve wanted and have been working and praying for for fifty years. Why are they yammering about the leak instead of shouting their success from the rooftops?

Yeh, why aren't they celebrating? In fact, why aren't anti-abortion fans on this thread celebrating instead of griping about the leak? You wanted this, why are you upset we all know sooner? This gives you time to plan that great We Love Babies party in June.

There’s a candidate for AG in MI who says he’ll prosecute women for murder, so there’s that.

Their religious tyranny is so unpopular all they can hope to do is change the subject to distract people.

The nyt will cover who the leaker is when that is discovered. I will post the link here.

Don’t kid yourself. Politico knows how the leaker is.

Probably two people at Politico know who the leaker is. Not the entire news organization.

Good they can employ the leaker or send them to live with Snowden to celebrate themselves.

Because right now the GOP is one incredibly stupid dog with its mouth wrapped around the bumper of a car it’s been chasing for decades.

And the driver is getting out with a club.

Enjoy, rapepublicans!

To those who question the Democrats publishing the addresses of Justices....

Left-wing activist groups are planning to send protesters to the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices following a leak indicating the court may soon overturn Roe v. Wade.

The activists are organizing under the moniker "Ruth Sent Us" and have published the supposed home addresses of Justices Amy Coney Barrett, John Roberts, Samuel Alito, Brett Kavanaugh, Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch.

"Our 6-3 extremist Supreme Court routinely issues rulings that hurt women, racial minorities, LGBTQ+ and immigrant rights," the group's website reads. "We must rise up to force accountability using a diversity of tactics."

Fox News is told there has been a strong police presence at the justices' homes following the leak. The group says they will visit the homes on May 11.

Working the refs! Nice, right winger! Actually the first night this broke, the NYT didn’t bother with this travesty of a decision; they were all in on the leak, just as you’d suspect from a right wing outlet like NYT.

No one cares about the leak in the face of the fascist GOP telling women they can go get fcked, we have no rights. (For my money, it was absolutely a right winger leaking. If you want to talk about a group of people who want to destroy America and its laws and norms, look no further than the GOP).

This ^

Also, pretty funny how anyone on the right is complaining about the leak being a destructive breach of norms.

Now, if the opinion was stolen by a third party and released somehow, that is a crime. I support prosecution in that case. But in all likelihood this was an inside job and newsflash: the SCOTUS is literally above the law. They do what they want. A justice could walk a draft down and put it in the mailbox and no one would ever know or be held accountable. What do they care? Lifetime appointments to SCOTUS.

Not of Republicans have any say in it. They have been systematically trying to strip that power away for more than a decade.

+1
I am crap at searching for things I saw once so I don’t have the link for proof but due to the GOP’s exquisitely discriminatory vote rigging via gerrymandering and everything else they do to suppress specific votes, Democrats have to win by incredible margins just to win. Our votes are so diluted in many states despite the raw numbers being there.

This poor rural states get much better representation than cities do which obviously benefits the GOP

Conservative here.

The opinion has not been announced by SCOTUS. This is a draft opinion LEAKED from some activist who works at the Supreme Court.
The leaker needs to be identified, fired, disbarred (if a member of the bar), and prosecuted if appropriate.

This person has caused untold damage to SCOTUS and to this country. But, you probably consider this person a hero. That speaks volumes.

How things evolve really depends on what happens next. Some sort of legislative protection for abortion is very popular, and republicans are still politicians. Under Roe, there's been little pressure on Republican politicians to support legislative protection. Now that Roe will be overturned, there will be increasing pressure from constituents who were previously silent.

Legislative protection for abortion will be much more durable. This is a good development. I don't know why Democrats are so upset.

For our first we weren't actively trying and were on birth control. My cycle was so irregular due to an eating disorder for years that I only got it once every few months. Despite being on birth control ( condoms) And my irregular. I wound up pregnant but didn't know it for 3 months.
We were married and had a very long hard discussion about if we wanted to continue that pregnancy because while we wanted children we were not ready for them at that point.
This is a man issue as much as it is a woman's issue and I wish more people would understand and realize that. My husband's trajectory at work had to change drastically if we were to keep pregnancy and he had to determine if that was something he was ready to step up and do or not.

Ginni Thomas is the most likely suspect. Yes, she has done untold damage to this country and no, she is not a hero. But we knew that before the leak.

That response is asinine at this point. Women will be charged with murder before that happens. They will likely die themselves in botched abortions.

Nice try. She would not have access to this draft opinion, despite what your delusional thinking says.
