Not of Republicans have any say in it. They have been systematically trying to strip that power away for more than a decade.

Working the refs! Nice, right winger! Actually the first night this broke, the NYT didn’t bother with this travesty of a decision; they were all in on the leak, just as you’d suspect from a right wing outlet like NYT.

No one cares about the leak in the face of the fascist GOP telling women they can go get fcked, we have no rights. (For my money, it was absolutely a right winger leaking. If you want to talk about a group of people who want to destroy America and its laws and norms, look no further than the GOP).

+1 The NYT deservedly got a raft of sh!t for this for totally missing the forest for the trees. Also probably big bad that they weren’t the ones who were leaked to.

The nyt will cover who the leaker is when that is discovered. I will post the link here.

Don’t kid yourself. Politico knows how the leaker is.

Probably two people at Politico know who the leaker is. Not the entire news organization.

Not in heavily gerrymandered districts. Not in districts that attempt to disenfranchise their voters.

+1 I’m not familiar with the state legislative districts in Louisiana, but I n a state where 1/3 of the population is Black, Louisiana has only one majority Black House district in violation of the Voting Rights Act, and the district looks like this:

Forcing someone to go through that experience, ignoring all other aspects of forced pregnancy and parenthood, is literal torture. It is traumatizing for many women who voluntarily give birth to healthy babies with a smooth delivery. It’s an immense amount of suffering.

Just wanted to point out that the handmaiden on the court, the middle finger to intelligent women everywhere, said pregnancy and childbirth are no big deal.

I completely agree with you. No one should have to undertake that unless they want it.
unfortunately, she is the only person on the court who has given birth.

DP. So what? Her experience is not the experience of all women, and she is far from an expert on the risks and challenges that can come with pregnancy. I have given birth to two children. I have also had two miscarriages, right at the end of my first trimester each time. The two pregnancies I did not lose were brutal. If my employer were not so accommodating with flexible hours and work from home (they were ahead of their time when I had my first in 2007), I would have had to take medical leave starting around 20 weeks with each. I had complicated deliveries with both, and my daughter and I both almost died when she was born in 2010. And it was devastating to be told in no uncertain terms afterward that I should never try to have another baby because it could very well kill me.

So why is Ofjesse’s opinion on the burdens of pregnancy and childbirth more legitimate than mine?

Let's hope so. Because some have no respect for elections unless they win which means they have no respect for elections.

So much corrosive destruction coming from the GOP.

Democrats want the focus to stay on the opinion and not the leak because the opinion is devastating for Republicans. Republicans are trying to get everyone to focus on the leak rather than the opinion for exactly the same reason. I doubt Schiff knows who leaked it or even which side of the Court it came from, and there’s no political value for him in speculating. The substance of the decision is the better focus even if it came from one of Alito or Thomas’s clerks.

Our legislators stopped representing the people they are supposed to a long time ago. They are now just special interest lackies who take millions and millions in handouts from lobbyists. You know if they actually believed some of the stuff their legislating and lived by it. That's one thing, but these people don't have a moral bone in their body and they're trying to legislate that morality on to others. We need to get special interest money out of Washington and we need better representation and get rid of gerrymandering. Like I said, the people stopped being represented a very long time ago.

Has the former guy taken credit for this opinion yet? Any republican lawmaker? If not, why so silent?! Don’t be bashful!!

I would love to know the passage in the Constitution that says it is someone's right to have me give my life for theirs
No one has the right to force someone to use their body against their will. Is not in the Constitution

I am crap at searching for things I saw once so I don’t have the link for proof but due to the GOP’s exquisitely discriminatory vote rigging via gerrymandering and everything else they do to suppress specific votes, Democrats have to win by incredible margins just to win. Our votes are so diluted in many states despite the raw numbers being there.

Great points here, and more reasons why a leak from the left makes no sense.

Also, the entire GOP is about to get exactly what they’ve wanted and have been working and praying for for fifty years. Why are they yammering about the leak instead of shouting their success from the rooftops?

Yeh, why aren't they celebrating? In fact, why aren't anti-abortion fans on this thread celebrating instead of griping about the leak? You wanted this, why are you upset we all know sooner? This gives you time to plan that great We Love Babies party in June.

Your first mistake was in believing the lie that Republicans loved America and the Constitution.

I wish some of you had my relatives and rural friends to understand the extent to which some Americans are in the throes of a religious cult. They literally do not believe that America was founded on religious freedom; they actually think that the country was founded for the benefit of Christians.

I think everyone can agree that this is a political earthquake. I think about 70% of the American population agrees with me that this is a terrible decision.

Where art thou, stare decisis?

Also, has a draft opinion ever leaked before?

So the right-wing are judicial activists after all?
