Most contracts are funded until mid November. Some are slowly running out of money, but it’s why a lot of things are still running as normal. When the contracts start running out of money, the big Defense lobbyists will be buying another ballroom to open the government back up. |

+1 I’m a fed married to a contractor, have a couple contractor friends who were DOGE’d early on, and have worked with contractors at my agency. I definitely care! And I know many others do as well. |

You are disingenuous. They was a separate bill that the Democrats brought to the floor that all of the Rs voted against... You can make the same argument that if the Rs really wanted the government open they would have voted for that bill too. |

Maybe. But open enrollment starts November 1 and the Democratic position will suddenly become a lot more salient, especially in Florida and Texas which are the two states that will be most impacted by the GOP change to health care policy. |

If I were Chuck Schumer, I would approve the House CR on November 18, while letting Mike Johnson know that any further funding would require bipartisan negotiation. Then the House can come back to Washington for the Epstein vote before another shutdown begins. |

I'm remembering a time when Congress voted to authorize funds to Ukraine, but the president at the time tried to withhold the payment in order to get Ukraine to do his political dirty work. Now...did Congress approve the funds to Argentina? |
