Breed owner stereotypes

Pit bull - UMC liberal who protests breed discrimination

Lab - Single guy who made craft beer and hiking his personality

Chihuahua - Overweight yet very self confident, tinder bio points out she pays her own bills

Irish Wolfhound - Look how big my home is and how much food I can afford

Pit bull is either UMC lib or lower class with conservative leanings. Not much in between.

^^Honestly, this is kind of spot on. Otherwise, the first PP nailed it.

Also a lot of pit bulls start out life in lower class/poor socially conservative homes, are given up, and end up rescued by the liberal yuppies.

Also true.

Socially conservative? The pit bulls I see are in poor inner city neighborhoods.

The unfriendly piece is really puzzling, given this breed’s temperament

OMG You’re so right!!!!!

The German Shepherd owners on our neighborhood (two of them) and somewhat reclusive middle aged white men who seem to enjoy that their dogs bark and snarl at people and other dogs as they walk by.

This isn’t my experience. The German Shepard owners I know are quiet, but their dogs are perfectly behaved/trained.

The German shepherds I see in the neighborhood are the most well-behaved dogs.

Cocker spaniels - Old, overweight white couple who smell like mothballs. They married late and have no children except for little Betty who is in desperate need of grooming.

If they aren't hunters, this has been accurate ime. I don't see many of them these days so maybe out of fashion? Aussies are everywhere.

No idea about the first two, but border collies seemed to be owned by a variety of people. I've seen them on farms, of course, but also in the 'burbs. There doesn't seem to be any pattern, at least in my experience. They are supposed to be fairly challenging and need a lot of exercise and a "job" to do, yet they can easily be found in the suburbs.

I've only noticed them to be extremely independent and at least 30y, usually a woman. I haven't actually met any men with them. Usually they also ride-or rode, if older-horses. They either spend a fortune on training or walkers in the suburbs if they WOH or they SAH/WAH and are very active, intense and involved in everything they do. Very performance-based. They are both high maintenance af. Generally affectionate and loyal once you get to know them. Not very hung up on image.

I think they are on either end of the spectrum, kind of like the pitbulls.

Hounds? Like the hunting type, not beagles and not huge coo hounds.
