Or maybe they just want an idea of the personality of the animal they are choosing to live with them.

Also, maybe, like us, they found 3 separate random purebred dogs on the side of the road, looking for homes. And yep, we tried like crazy to find their people but no one seemed to be looking for them at all.

Cavalier owner, I was waiting for this one. However, this doesn’t describe me. I just appreciate sweetness and beauty.

Reviving this thread for salukis, catahoula leopards and border collies.

No idea about the first two, but border collies seemed to be owned by a variety of people. I've seen them on farms, of course, but also in the 'burbs. There doesn't seem to be any pattern, at least in my experience. They are supposed to be fairly challenging and need a lot of exercise and a "job" to do, yet they can easily be found in the suburbs.

This is my thread, and I’m reading it again cracking up. Funny stuff!

Cocker spaniels - Old, overweight white couple who smell like mothballs. They married late and have no children except for little Betty who is in desperate need of grooming.

And tell that to the Black couple I know who owns them. UMC yes, sophisticated yes. But in this country, old money wasn’t possible.

Haha. Close to the exact opposite for us, at least at this point in our lives. Our Cocker jogs close to 5 miles around soccer fields 6 days a week with me.

Great breed so who knows, maybe after the kids fly the nest we will settle into that life.

And Australian shepherd!!

Pomeranian - Single lady who loves pink. She wears big, coiffed hair even in her athleisure attire. She also loudly chews gum. Everyone hates her.

No…..I have two poms. I’m not single.

As a minority race, immigrant, and working mom, I feel prejudice and bias at school and work every day. I don't want to be judged again in the community by what pet I own. It might be funny to you, but please be a decent person and keep the stereotypes to yourself. Thank you.

Then just don't read the thread. You really can't police everyone. I'm a POC and immigrant, I don't feel prejudice every day. Or I'm just not overly sensitive. You can't control other people, only yourself.

Or they just don't want a pit or chihuahua mix, which is every dog at the shelter.

The German Shepherd owners on our neighborhood (two of them) and somewhat reclusive middle aged white men who seem to enjoy that their dogs bark and snarl at people and other dogs as they walk by.

This is very true: middle aged and younger, always sort of antisocial men.
