How exactly did she behave like a jerk? By using a seat feature that she has every right to use?! And if the person in front of her also reclined his seat, which is most probable, would you advise her to bang their seat until they also sit in straight position? How is he more entitled to space than she is? I’ve been in his shoes where I had to sit on a non reclining seat on a transatlantic flight and it didn’t occur to me to force the person in front to not recline their seat. And yes, I had less space than others, but I didn’t feel that this gave me the right to make the whole 47 seats in front of me sit straight. |
+1 Man is an entitled douchebag. |
She was a jerk because he had asked her previously to put her seat up because he was too cramped to eat the food on his tray and she raised her seat while he ate. As soon as he finished eating she put her seat back down, he objected again and she ignored him. The flight attendant came over and this lady refused to raise her seat even a little bit to give the guy behind her some more breathing room. The whole thing was absolutely ridiculous. I find both of these passengers to be at fault. |
She accommodated him for the meal. Why should she continue to not recline her seat after he finished his meal? So he could put his iPad on it? So him watching the iPad trumps her need for space? And if the seat in front of her was free and there was no one reclined in it, why didn’t he just switch seats? Most probably because it was taken and because the person also reclined in it. Again, his issue is with the airline, and not with the woman! Why didn’t the captain make an announcement and ask all C seats to straighten their seats - so that me entitled can watch his iPad on an open tray. Because he was looking for someone to pick on and she was just in front of him and weaker looking. He is a BULLY! |
Good summary, I agree. |
|
They should remove the recline feature. Too many a-holes use it.
|
I agree that the airline's reaction makes me question what exactly happened. |

I just watched it and not at all what I was expecting given the comments that made it seem he was some over the top asshole. He gently taps and shakes the seat basiclaly to the beat of his music. He is being annoying but not aggressive. His response is immature and unnecessary but this isn't some 'losing it' episode like people are saying.
They seem to have gotten into a dynamic of both wanting to irritate the other. Who knows what really happened. Maybe she reclined then unreclined her seat repeatedly or did who knows what. I think they both deserved each other |
| Meanwhile, airlines keep their hands clean while passengers fight it out. |
He was absolutely being passive aggressive. She had the right to recline and the FA did NOT have the right to tell her not to. |
Is this quote a joke? Because I read the whole thing singing the Gloria Gaynor song I will survive. |
Delta CEO shouldn't put passengers in this situation in the first place. |
Is that defined in the airline passenger bill of rights?
She needs to obey the FA. Period. |

Bad analogy. This is a paid service. Airlines are taking customers for granted. Anyone remember flying in the 80s? You got meals or a snack on most flights. You could recline comfortably. You could book any seat that you wanted for the same price (just first come, first served). And you didn't have to pay extra for checked bags. The companies are mismanaged, antiquated dinosaurs that pay CEOS bloated salaries. They treat us like crap because if we're all compliant sheep, they don't need to change. For the record, I fly business most times because I fam infuriated by the way economy class passengers are treated. I also try to airlines like JetBlue (or Virgin America when it existed) because they provided more comfort and better customer service. The current major carriers are engaged in a race to the bottom and trying to making us feel grateful for a bag of stale pretzel and 2 inch recline. |
