So then what? She yelled at him, and she's outnumbered (and surprised, so not ready with a quick response). So now the boy should get away with it? Such ridiculous crap. |
Please. If you find a judge who would punish a girl for hitting a guy going for her butt, i'll eat my hat. (And I've been a prosecutor for 10 years.) |
Get away with what? What consequence are you seeking for a 12 year old boy who grabbed her butt? The most important thing from this is to help the girl stand up for herself and prevent the boy from doing it again. What is YOUR end game here? |
Nice! Blame the victim. Literally. I feel like "Missoula" should be required reading for all of these idiots who are blaming OP and her daughter. |
The no tolerance policies of the school system are a much more severe system. Children have committed suicide after they were kicked out of everything because of a minor infraction. |
Yes, to deflect the attempted assault would be fine. But to then turn around and pummel the person who made the attempt would be a real concern. There could be civil liability for that. Criminal, too, but most reasonable prosecutors would, one hopes, reasonably exercise their discretion. |
"End game"? I would like the kid to be seriously punished. Suspended. Kicked off his sports team for some period of time (if applicable). Detention for a while. Things like that. Would depend on whether this was the first time he did something like this or not. I'd like someone with authority (principal maybe) to sit him down and tell him he can't do that and if he were an adult it is a crime called "assault" that could be prosecuted. And that if they ever hear of him treating another girl in a degrading manner, he will be punished even more severely. |
She did stand up for herself. |
Children have committed suicide as the result of sexual assault and bullying as well. But go on, brush that under the rug. |
As a heterosexual female I am not inclined to play grab ass with any other females no matter what the age. Neither am I inclined to "fuck off." There needs to be a few of us on this thread who aren't lunatics looking to paint young boys as mad rapusts and young girls as helpless. |
| Yes..with zero tolerance laws in schools, treating all of this with a iron clad fist will result in EVERY child..not just this boy, being punished for the most minor infractions. |
Im OP and was explaining why hitting back isn't great advice. |
. Wow. The facts sure are changing as this thread has gone on... |
Again, there are degrees of punishment. The OP was saying she wanted to go to the police. This is a learning opportunity for a 12 yr old boy, no harsher consequences. You're part of the problem by overreacting. |
How am I overreacting? I think that people have generally UNDERREACTED to sexual assault against girls. The reverse hasn't traditionally been a problem, now has it? I wouldn't go to the police (unless it happened again, in which case I might). But I damn sure would go to the principal and expect real punishment. |
