Without serious intervention, this guy is headed toward prison some day, given his track record. I hope that your call to the principal will set him straight, but I doubt it. Still, you did the right thing, OP.

Agreed.

OP here. I think your prison assumption is a little dramatic. Kids do stupid things in the process of growing up. Having an adult speak to him may help change his behavior, or it may not. I've done what I thought was needed, and I hope he learns a lesson.

The "guy" needs to be sent to juvenile detention. There hopefully satisfies misandrists here

You certainly did the right thing, OP, and I hope that this saves many girls and women from becoming victims from this juvenile predator. I'm totally serious, btw.

They should have weekend arrests like they do in Germany. That would scare him straight and keep him off the path from being a serious sex offender when he grows up.

Advice? These are 12 and 13 year olds, or send the police to do it.

I think this is normal middle school antics. I wouldn't get my daughter riled up about it at all. If I was worried I would talk to the school.

Do you have a son? Boys will be boys? Oh I know he raped her, but he was just being a BOY!

No. Buck stops here. I'd talk to the principal and the kid's parents. If the principal doesn't take it seriously talk about contacting the police because your kid was sexually assaulted.

I agree with this. This "boys will be boys" attitude, ESPECIALLY at a young age is extremely harmful. If you tell your daughter to let it go, or let the boy off, you're essentially saying tat he's a boy so he can do that sort of thing, and you're a girl so have to suck it up and deal.

The predator accusation is dramatic. If he was that troubled, I think his behavior would reflect it. From what I've learned, he seems impulsive and is dealing with puberty. Arresting a child would be traumatic for them. I cannot stand to see those scared straight shows. Reach down and find some empathy.

It doesn't work the way you think. Nobody barges into the teenager's bedroom at midnight and draws them away bodily.

There's a juvenile trial, and the culprit checks into a juvenile detention facility for the weekend. Nothing traumatic. Just a deserved punishment that makes an impression. It's a bit like getting grounded, only it's the state doing instead of mom and dad.

Good OP. I am glad for you and your daughter that you found him and he'll be spoken to. Well done also for tolerating a boat load of crap on this thread from lunatics.

For the folks advocating little kids (both boys and girls) to get arrested, does it follow them as sex offender throughout life?

The kid was getting laughs at another person's expense. He smacked the girl's butt and his buddies laughed - that is why he did it. She told him off and he backed down and away.

Now he has been identified, the Op has made the principal aware of the situation and it will be handled. To label this boy as a "sexual predator" in the making is very dramatic. You don't even know this kid.

Even if a 12 year old was charged with a sex crime, his or her records would be sealed. I'm sure the offense would have to be way more egregious than an ass slap before they charged a child with a sex crime.

A kid did this to me in middle school. This was a "thing" the boys were doing to the girls at my middle School. Parents reported it and the police ended up coming by the school, not sure what the final out come was. When it happened to me, my dad contacted the boys parents. I remember feeling a little stupid about it then. Now I remember it as my dad being a great, protective father and one I can and could go to if and when I needed him. I have had friends Over the years in very bad relationships (abused and mistreated in high school and college) not feeling like they can go to their parents. I feel it is very important for a young woman to know her parents have her back and are protective of her.
