She claims he works for some company hauling animals (??) and she doesn't know the name.

If you don't wanna do something about it save for argue back and forth with folks then I will.
What's his name so I can call the police?

I think we should all call the cops.

op Here: I am not going to publicly post his name but if you can find a way to do it privately,
I'll gladly forward that along

How about you privately get off your laptop and pick up the phone and call the police yourself - you want advice, guess what THEY GIVE IT!!!
People call the police distressed about missing loved ones all the time - what you think you're gonna get arrested for filing a false report of the boyfriend shows up?
What the hell are you waiting for a good friend of yours who is a cop to call you and see what he thinks for? You can call an police station in the country and get free professional advice on how to handle the situation!!!
Pick up the damn phone.

But I sure as hell knew who his employer was and the names of his mother and sisters.

I did too. The military. I'd have had no luck contacting his unit, since I didn't have contact information.

Ostensibly his parents/family would have reached out to you if you were close enough to be informed if anything untoward had happened.

Nah, they didn't know we were serious.

Maybe they're poaching - she did say they went up "to hunt" - probably got arrested for hauling back illegal deer!!!

OP HERE: I googled weather in northern Maine and a news station came up with the weather for a bunch of northern towns, that's how I got that info. I know I should have asked where he was going in Maine but I didn't think I needed that info.

OP here: what they were going to hunt was illegal this time of year so him being arrested is one of my concerns

OP: go to veromi.net or any of the other public databases and it will show you people he might be related to as well as family members. If you fork over a nominal fee you can get ALL of his information online.

This is so silly.

If he was arrested he would be allowed a phone call.

And Mom and Dad would have likely been the ones to get that call.

Lol this is funny. In a matter of minutes the OP went from being ready to jump out a window in distress for her missing boyfriend to being ready to jump up and fight somebody because commenters in here have the audacity to question the "facts" surrounding her story. You got some sympathy...you got some advice...what the hell else do you need OP? What you think somebody in here knows where your beloved is - I seriously doubt that anyone does, so what the hell you still in here defending the details of your dire situation for? Shouldn't you be frantically calling people and agencies all up and down the East Coast to locate your lost beau?

The illegal hunting / arrest scenario makes sense. No idea how long he'll be in jail before bond, etc?

Something similar happened to me a few years back with a guy I was dating. we both went out separately with friends one summer Friday night and lo and behold I didn't hear from him (very uncharacteristically) nor able to reach him for the rest of the weekend until he called Monday mid-morning. Sure enough, he got pulled over Friday night for a DUI and thrown in jail for 24 hours and then just went home and turned off his phone for rest of weekend until had to go to work on Monday.
