Same here. Taylor appeared to literally drag Lana up on to the stage, where she attempted to hide until Taylor insisted that she come out. Very awkward, poorly handled moment.

+1. She is very chaotic at times… Awkward when not rehearsed.

I knew Taylor’s look was gonna suck. For reasons I will never understand her Grammy looks are always her worst (and yes I’m a fan, this is just reality though). She looked a million times better at the Golden Globes a couple weeks ago.

I am bias because i like Taylor a lot but she comes off as neruotypical. She has a lot of friends but the way she interacts with them isn't like other women her age.

The best most positive and amazing Grammys I’ve ever seen, congrats to the director/producer/Nosh.

Of course people had to turn this thread into a negative bashing thread, sad.

I do think this album is more deserving of awards than some of her prior albums that have won. Like Lover winning song of the year? Bleh. Red winning both Album of the Year and Country Album of the Year? Come on -- it was not a Country Album.

Midnights/Anti Hero are some of her best work so at least I'm not annoyed that she's winning. But I do wish she'd stop with the "Who? Me?!?! Oh my gosh, I won?????" act. It is tiiiiiiiiired.

And it makes her seem chaotic and unthoughtful of her surroundings, she was practically jumping around on stage as if at a party with her friends, ignoring the (frail) legend on the stage with her. She could have chosen to start the theatrics when Celine walked off, bit that would take common sense and discernment.

I think it reflects her very strong investment in winning the award, for which I am mildly embarrassed for her. She already has a lot of Grammy's. There were other great albums nominated (I loved boygenius's The Record and Lana's album had one of my favorite songs in recent memory on it, Let the Light In with Father John Misty). But you could tell she was very determined to win because it sets a record and I think she's extremely conscious of wanting to be "the best" and beat others. She's like the Tom Brady of pop music. Like... I respect the talent and the work ethic but it does not stop me from rolling my eyes at the hyper competitiveness that veers in narcissism with alarming frequency.

+1

I keep thinking how she wants to beat Beyoncé. Taylor’s addiction to awards puts me off. Miley was excited with hers and I love how she said everyone is spectacular with or without one, etc.

I like Taylor’s music. I just can’t stand the constant promotion, pretending to be a friend to her fans, her parasocial tendencies, and her big-mouthed fake surprise at winning her 13th and 14th awards.

Also, boo hoo Jay-Z, maybe Beyonce should create an album that the mass market actually likes if she wants album of the year so bad. So far, she hasn't. Not even close.

I complain about Taylor but I have to say that I admired her when she said in her movie, “I just have to make a better album” when she found out she wasn’t going to win some award.

Because Taylor doesn’t treat other people as she wants to be treated. She takes no opportunity to rise above. She could have classily risen above the Kanye awards thing and shown everyone how to be a good winner showing respect to those who came before her. Instead she instagrammed a new album. She may be on the spectrum but she is also a bully.

I think because Lana sings on one of the Midnights tracks, so she was technically part of the album. But yeah, Lana clearly didn’t want to share in that moment.

I think it was pure awkwardness/Taylor being unable to think beyond herself in that moment. Lana was sitting right next to Taylor when they announced it. I think as Taylor took her "moment" first acting surprised and then doing handshake/hug thing with a producer on her other side, she went to hug Lana, correctly read Lana's disappointment on her face, and then thought "oh I will fix this by bringing her on stage and saying how great she is." She was just uncomfortable with the fact that Lana was more disappointed for herself than thrilled for Taylor in the moment (totally understandable), and chose to make it MORE awkward by dragging Lana up rather than just graciously accepting the award and letting someone else fell however she was going to feel about it.

It was controlling and immature and I felt bad for Lana. Honestly I felt bad for everyone involved because you could tell they were all just tolerating Taylor's antics.

Or maybe TS is just an overexposed, immature brat.

YES in a BIG way

Miley was channeling the heL! out of Tina Turner in that. I know she started as Hannah Montana, but I do find her talented. I don't think she has any sex appeal, however.

I got Jane Fonda as Barbarella out of Miley's outfit.

My thoughts exactly!

It wasn't conventional, but classless? She thanked her fans and then used her time to give something to her fans.

Yes. Classless. Starts by bragging about all her wins and then drops an album. She should be better at this by now.

Eh, Taylor is human. People forget that.

Even if you are a Taylor super fan, you have to admit that at this point she is overexposed and needs to go away for a bit. Maybe after the Super Bowl we'll get a break.
