grammys 2024

She is human AND she’s a human who has been famous since she was 15. That’s going to affect a person. She’s probably as normal as she can be given the circumstances but of course she’s not going to behave like normal people.

Jay Z is such an arrogant jerk.

Bringing his daughter on stage with me while he accepted an award was just dumb; obvious promotion of her. They’ll try to make fetch happen for their nepo-baby.

Essentially calling out the industry for getting it wrong since Beyoncé has never won album of the year while Taylor has (directly throwing shade at Taylor) was behind sour grapes.

Someone needs to explain to him that not everyone can win. And as he acknowledged in his long rambling tirade: music and awards for music are subjective. Duh.

Not everyone likes your wife’s music. Not everyone likes hip hop. It’s not racist or unfair…it’s just facts.

Taylor bringing Lana up there to elevate while she won was kind of like Kanye-ing herself. “I won best album, but actually….” Weird. Well intended but weird.

She’ll be abroad. You’ll definitely get a break.

Beyoncé is typically heavily produced (read: not great live) and she has a lot of demands.

Fantasia’s raw energy was very good.

Having said that, I’m surprised Jay Z didn’t trash Fantasia during his long-winded speech/tirade. “I’m just saying, Beyoncé could have done it better.”

I hope SNL makes fun of Jay Z’s speech.

I want Keenan to play Jay Z…or Blue Ivy.

Makes me wonder how influenced Kanye was by J and Beyoncé talking like that when he got up on stage. I mean the getting up on stage was all his mental illness but he may have been repeating what he heard.

She's not well.

Is the venue outdoors? Another performer was wearing a coat on stage. Like it’s NYC New Years event.

Was it a raincoat? They got like three inches of rain there yesterday and the high temperature was 61.

Bey and J’s relationship and so toxic and dysfunctional. He cheated and her music has never been the same and now he wins a lifetime achievement award and focuses on his wife’s mini me and career losses. They need to go their separate ways.

These people ALL talk like that at times. Taylor has her own BS (like dragging Lana up, being petty and self-centered at times). Yes, J's speech came off as sour grapes. Yes Kanye was incredibly rude when he interrupted Taylor's acceptance speech. And Taylor was right de when she didn't even acknowledge Celine.

A lot of these people have huge egos, limited perspective, weird narcissistic behaviors.

It's here nearly the exceptions who jump out. That's why people are responding to Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs, to Joni's haunting performance. There ARE people for whom it's really mostly about the music. But the current mega stars (Taylor included) are all sort of ridiculous and self obsessed. Acting like Beyonce and J are unique in that respect (or that Taylor is NOT like that) is silly. It's a whole club of self centered, self important people. Fame and money will do that.

Same here. Taylor appeared to literally drag Lana up on to the stage, where she attempted to hide until Taylor insisted that she come out. Very awkward, poorly handled moment.

Agree that is was awkward and not her best moment. As a Celine fan, I would have loved a tiny comment. HOWEVER, JayZ had time to prepare his speech and he came up with... that?! It sounded bitter, entitled and pathetic.

I saw him complaining this morning. I was like cry into your pile of money!

I’ve seen Taylor live twice and was blown away last night by how awkward she is in real life. She’s like a baby calf who doesn’t know how to walk. It’s actually remarkable she goes from that being her natural state to a decent performer (she’s a terrible dancer even rehearsed so I won’t say a good performer, but it’s a 180 degree difference from THAT)

I think because Lana sings on one of the Midnights tracks, so she was technically part of the album. But yeah, Lana clearly didn’t want to share in that moment.

I think it was pure awkwardness/Taylor being unable to think beyond herself in that moment. Lana was sitting right next to Taylor when they announced it. I think as Taylor took her "moment" first acting surprised and then doing handshake/hug thing with a producer on her other side, she went to hug Lana, correctly read Lana's disappointment on her face, and then thought "oh I will fix this by bringing her on stage and saying how great she is." She was just uncomfortable with the fact that Lana was more disappointed for herself than thrilled for Taylor in the moment (totally understandable), and chose to make it MORE awkward by dragging Lana up rather than just graciously accepting the award and letting someone else fell however she was going to feel about it.

It was controlling and immature and I felt bad for Lana. Honestly I felt bad for everyone involved because you could tell they were all just tolerating Taylor's antics.

That producer is Aaron Dessner. She wouldn't be winning these awards without him.

Dessner is a musical genius. Guitarist for The National (which is Taylor's favorite rock band, natch). Works with Taylor, Ed Sheeran. His twin brother is also in the band and also a classical composer. He's a real tour de force.
