And has anyone done to break the stalemate, apart from swinging for the fences every four years and whining that the system is rigged? |
He has yet to call for the expulsion of anti-semites like Illhan Omar, AOC, and others from Congress. He has called for ‘humanitarian pauses,’ which is a code word for a ceasefire, and has increasingly questioned the Israeli war strategy. Additionally, he established a committee against Islamophobia rather than strengthening programs against antisemitism, all while thousands March in the street calling for our genocide. Unconditional, loud support is all we ask for, and he has refused to give it. |
Uh, yeah. They’re not anti-semites just because you don’t like them, civilians (especially children) should be allowed to leave, the Israeli war strategy is crush them all. Biden is bolstering a strategy against both antisemitism and islamophobia https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/biden-administration-bolsters-effort-battle-antisemitism-islamophobia-rcna125005 as both are problems in this country, and no one is calling for your genocide. Israel is committing genocide and you want us to full-throat support that? No. And frankly your post codes more than slightly islamophobic. |
The GOP runs spoiler candidates every four years; isn’t that the same thing? /s |
You don’t think Illhan Omar, the woman who uses the words, “From the river to the sea Palestine will be free” like it is literally nothing to call for the genocide of the Israeli people is not antisemitic? That the far left protesters chanting the same thing don’t want me and my family dead? I am absolutely not Islamophobic. I have Muslim friends, and hope for a time in which Islamophobia and Antisemitism are unheard of, both, but right now we are seeing massive demonstrations against Jews at a level not seen since Germany in the 1920s and 1930s, calling for our genocide. We are seeing protests using ‘From the river to the sea” and other incredibly antisemitic sayings. We have protests calling for Israel to accept a ceasefire. I will end this discussion. But me, and millions of other American Jews, have been awakened to how American Liberals turned their back on us in our greatest time of need. We will not vote for Trump - he is only marginally better on Israel then Biden - but we will use our voices to champion a leader who will stand tall and proud alongside Israel as Israel removes Hamas from Gaza, for the benefit of both Israeli and Palestinian peoples. That is the beauty of a democracy, we are not limited to one or two options. We can choose. |
No, Ilhan Omar didn’t say that. You can end your half of the discussion, but you can’t end mine. A Republican did call for genocide: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/nov/10/florida-republican-michelle-salzman-palestine No Democrats are calling for genocide. That you keep lying is really not a good look for you. And you should probably start worrying a little more about those poor Palestinians who Israel has been happily, cheerfully genociding for decades. |
Okay, I got the specific antisemitic, far left politician wrong: https://abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics/rep-rashida-tlaib-faces-2nd-censure-resolution-criticism/story?id=104693855. I apologize. But Omar did very much support Tlaib. And I don’t judge a party on one small time politico in Florida, and even if I did, I have no intent on voting for republicans. And Israel committing genocide? Israel is removing Hamas from power, something that will very much help Palestinians, and the very idea of accusing them of genocide is something I cannot even wrap my head around. Anyway, I do hope one day you can grow and find some emphatic towards Israelis and Palestinians struggling under Hamas rule. But I will clearly not convince you. |
Don't be silly. Dems aren't worried about Republican voters, they are worried about members of their own party bolting. |

No, because both parties enjoy the status quo. This thread is all about not voting third party. Both Nancy and Hillary have been vocal about "a vote for a third party is a vote for Trump" rhetoric. It's like the DNC is scared of a little competition. It's the DNC's job to convince people to vote for Biden. Instead, it's been a campaign of why voters shouldn't vote for a third party candidate. |

Aww. What's wrong. You don't like that the no labels scheme to help trump is exposed for what it is? You may want to like in make believe but no one else does |
It's not rhetoric, it's simple math. Third party candidates are nothing more than spoilers in a national election. The reason there is no viable third party in this country is because the only time anyone ever talks about it is during the last half of an election cycle. |
Here is my take as someone with no bias one way or the other-
Israel absolutely has a right to go after Hamas after what happened to them Hamas is not doing the Palestinian people any good in their "rule" Isreael's tactics are definitely putting innocents in danger - I am not sure I 100% buy that every place they are shelling/bombing is a Hamas stronghold I do think that a 2 state solution is the ONLY way to make this even slightly better - I have never understood the settlement stuff (just, why?) There is no easy answer here - there never has been, and I think that is the hard place our government finds itself currently. |
No easy answer for sure. This hard place is difficult for many Americans and politicians to stomach because it isn't easy to identify who is us and who is them and which side us and them are on. In today's political world, it's all about us vs them. There needs to be two sides and only two sides and everyone should pick one. Not surprising to see the confusion this war has caused in American politics. |
exactly - this isn't a black and white, right vs wrong. Both sides in this conflict have been wronged AND have done wrong over time (I'm not talking about Hamas - they are 100% evil) It isn't a simple solution. Lots of people can't accept that because they want the world to be binary (as you were saying) This is why I would rather a president who actually does understand that foreign relations is an incredibly difficult thing that requires a lot of consideration, research, etc. Not just something you can tweet your way through with your big, dumb, uneducated thoughts |
