Agreed. This entire conversation is basically progressive left sad about poverty and not wanting to arrest or prosecute anyone for crime vs. more moderate or right folks basically saying “how about we hold people accountable for their crimes.” And yet we are labeled unprincipled. Insane. |
I'm not sure what living in the suburbs has to do with believing that criminals shouldn't be put into concentration camps and gassed, but nice virtue signaling. |
You can’t read. Nobody is saying not to hold people accountable. Zero. Nobody but yourself. |
+2 Exactly. |
Because 67% of crimes went unprosecuted in the district in 2022 by a liberal Biden da. Because we don’t have a fking working crime lab for years. Because our progressive city council has implemented the Youth Rehab act to let out criminals early. Or the second look act to shield violent criminal records. Because we let speeders keep their license with $12k in speeding tickets and they hit and killed three people on rock creek. Pay fking attention. Your Johnny come lately knowledge to how things work with crime and punishment in DC shows you have no clue how lenient this town is and how offenders get off time and time again. Because we have a progressive council l |
No it’s unprincipled to not understand the basis of our legal system and call for imprisonment without due process. Why are you ignoring the actual points made? Could you be a partisan troll lookin to stir up controversy? |
Yes, you literally are. All you’ve done is btch about people going to prison or railed about corporate greed. And how “income inequity” drives people to do this stuff. Stand by your fking posts. You don’t need to slink away from your views. |
You seem to be on some personal tirade but we are discussing Philadelphia here. |
I didn’t say that at all. Some anonymous poster did. Could have been you for all I know. How about let’s meet in the middle? I’ll assume all Republicans don’t actually want death camps if you don’t assume bs about me? |
you’re just arguing in bad faith now, fixating on something that wasn’t even intended. Stop employing breathless hyperbole and just admit you don’t believe jail is where criminals should go. |
The reasonable response to "should we build concentration camps and gas people for looting Athleta?" is "no, of course not, that is abhorrent," not "it'd be considerably cheaper" and then go on a rant about how some people are irredeemable. This isn't hard, yet you guys keep finding a way. |
You are seriously bad at trolling. Don't quit your day job. |
The trend is that blue cities like Philly, Portland, DC have, mainly as a response to George Floyd in 2020, have implemented progressive criminal justice policies which are tantamount to leniency. These looters will have a no bail policy for example. Or they will have a progressive judge intent on not prosecuting. Basically, to anyone paying attention crime is rising, but as a direct result of criminals knowing that they get a free pass under these new policies, there are no serious punishments anymore. |
How many inmates are you willing to fund with your salary? How much are you willing to shell to stop the theft of leggings? The cost is $130K per head. I mean these are basic questions that you moderate folks curtail. |
Keep arguing in bad faith and trying to steer the arguments to places previous posters did not intend. You won’t win the argument, but you can distract enough people. |
