If shoveling money into police budgets were enough to control crime, we’d be the safest nation in the world. Ditto on jailing people. We have more people in jail than any developed nation in the world. |
Or it could be because of progressive morons they elect to be judges and prosecutors who let criminals out with a stern talking to after multiple crimes are committed. What's the point of policing if you keep arresting the same one man crime waves over and over and over again yet progressive Democrats keep letting them back out on the streets due to some insanely warped idea of progressive criminal justice? They made sure as hell they don't punish for retail theft and crime, now it is a free for all looting binge, because they know if cops catch them they'll be released anyway because locking them up would be racist and oppression. |
741 million bucks and they can't stop some looters? What are they doing with all that money,? |
You can fund the police however you want it, but no amount of money makes a difference if the political impetus isn't on cracking down on crime. Why bother arresting looters or criminals when a soft on crime DA drops the charges? Why go after petty crime when nothing happens but paperwork and the perp still walks away.
These kids looted because they know nothing will happen to them. And nothing will happen because the police know the courts and politicians get in the way. It's not just Philly but most major cities including DC. Crime is exploding because the police aren't allowed to be policemen any more. If the police proactively tackle crime, they are racist, so they don't do anything. But I'll concede the infamous comment that people voted for it rings true. You live in a big city, you vote for the Democrats, you effectively voted for this. |
Yeah, that’s all gonna need some cites. Because every story I’ve heard about people calling the police to report crimes has the police saying “we don’t do that.” Maybe the police could start to do their jobs instead of tormenting people. Actual policing might help. |
Right? Everyone will cry about food deserts and lack of resources, when the progressive criminal justice policies, which, while derived from a good hearted place (broad claims of “equity”), have actually been the catalyst exacerbating the problem. If you let people commit crimes because punitive punishment like arrest and incarceration is “unfair”, you send a message that people can do as they please. Normally, I would think that after a while of seeing things close, crime rise and the quality of life decline that the public would shift its view. The pendulum would overcorrect the other way toward a stricter approach on crime. However, I’m not sure if this new generation, raised on a constant indoctrination diet that everyone is “oppressed” and that America sucks and basically just a grievance culture, will actually come around to wanting police around, or to take the strong measures needed to restore safety (actually bringing back and enforcing shoplifting laws). Everyone has so much righteous indignation these days. Sadly I perceive much of it to be performative or borne out of naïveté. |
I think you’ve bought into a narrative that all police just go around tormenting people and that’s just not true. There are bad apples, yes, but it’s not all police. You are posting an emotion, not by verifiable metrics. Additionally, why don’t you do a Ward 8 right along and 3am and have your bubble of oppression deflated a little? Being a beat cop is an incredible stressful job dealing with violent or insane people. |
This. |
Interesting that you don't put blame where it belongs.. .on criminals who have no regard for other people's safety or belongings, yet they are freed to commit more crimes. |
+1 truth well said |
My. Maga is looting and burning stores? Takes long hard look at the demographics shoplifting and looting and stealing from malls. Those are Maga? Fancy that! Oh, wait, you must have meant Biden voters? Now that makes sense. |
Still waiting on those citations. |
You can be pretty sure these criminals are not voters at all. They want as little to do with any government office or process as possible. |
I disagree. Like Chicago, it is the criminals and wanna be criminals who continue to vote in the people who will allow them to continue to commit crime and not be held accountable. They WANT these people in power. |
