Enlighten us, what did she accomplish on that trip? |

You're assumption is this trip wasn't legit because she visited a HBCU? This fails any reasonable burden of proof and seems racist. |
Actually you are making it about race. It has nothing to do with what an HBCU. It has to do with an out of state, no name nothing school that has less than 3000 students TOTAL, which means maybe a few hundred at most in their education program. Of those few hundred, what maybe one at most might consider moving so is that a good use of HER time and MCPS resources? Of course not. Visiting local schools, makes far more sense and there are several HBCU schools in MD/DC/VA that she hasn't visited. This was a personal trip. And, while she was there did she visit other schools, or just that one. And, exactly, what was the purpose of the visit? Did she even meet with students? Or, just the head of school for a 5 minute visit? What was accomplished at the meeting. What is offensive that you cannot understand is that many of us are still being very cautious and she's running around without a mask, traveling and not setting a good example to families as a public official (same issue with Biden and others). Central Office is seeing a high number of positives. Given all the needs of MCPS, visiting a small college most people haven't heard of is NOT a good use of her time. Her behavior is appalling and she should be setting a good example by masking especially in photo opps. Tell me, beyond bringing back the security, what has she done to benefit our students? And, for those of us with health issues, what has she done to make the schools safe for our kids to return? I see nothing. |
They just keep casting these aspersations with no evidence hoping that if they just say it enough it will stick. They seem obsessed with Dr. McKngiht. |
Who’s they? Parents who are unhappy at the backward slide in education in MCPS? Teachers and school administrators who gave Dr. McKnight a vote of no confidence for her lack of leadership? People who have been retaliated against for reporting serious violations of civil rights to state and federal agencies? Students, parents, teachers, and state administrators who see Dr. McKnight’s actions fail to make her propaganda slogans like Put Students First into reality in MCPS? Dr. McKnight is not a CEO of a private company, yet she wastes public tax dollars without any oversight or ethics. Actions speak louder than words and her actions show she is untrustworthy. |
So now this is about something altogether different? Basically when you're caught making up these false accusations you change the subject LOL! |
Your screaming racism because someone doesn't agree with you is absurd. You fail to see the issue that she traveled to her home town where her family is on tax payer money to have a few minute meeting with the head of the school. She didn't meet with students or anyone else per the photograph. It is also offensive she is traveling and being unmasked regardless of who she is when she should be setting a good example during covid. There are plenty of local HBCU that have much larger teacher programs that would make far more sense to visit. There are also plenty of other colleges with large teacher programs locally. How many teachers do you think she actually recruited. Given the distance, its not like she's getting student volunteers to work in the school... this was a personal trip on tax payer money. If you cannot see that as an issue and all you can do is scream racism, maybe you should look at yourself. |

In 2018, for example, this school graduated 48 bachelors education degrees.

If you have convinced yourself that a photograph of Dr. McKnight meeting with a university president proves that "she didn't meet with students or anyone else," then you are so far gone there's no point in arguing with you. |
| And others are so far gone that they fail to see how Dr. McKnight could make better use of her time by recruiting from the many leading institutions in the DC Metro area. Did she pay for the trip out of her own salary or take personal leave for the trip? Or did she have a one hour meeting and travel for free and without taking leave? If the latter then she is a truly unethical government employee. |
Can you say anything of substance or will you just deflect? |
And, that is the million dollar question! But, this is a tiny school so what kinds of connections is she forming when there are about 50 students majoring in education and all are out of state. Internships, employment, volunteering? What? |
OR the ones complaining about Dr. McKnight’s trip fail to understand, 1) There is a national shortage of people applying to teaching colleges, 2) the number of people leaving or retiring from the profession continues to grow, 3) MCPS already recruits from the DC metro area, 4) They are competing with every other nearby MD and vA county/city and DC for teachers from DC area colleges and universities, and 5) minority teachers are needed. Given these 5 realities, reaching beyond the DC metro area is not unreasonable and in fact wise. Doing so with a university she gas a personal relationship with and can serve as a shining example of the success that could be had is also wise. So what is the real issue???? |
