How much does MCPS pay for school administrators to travel out of state?

I saw this recent tweet by MCPS and it caused me to think, what’s the budget for out of state trips like this and is it a good use of tax dollars?

This pales to insignificance compared to the water on transportation caused by our out date and often gerrymandered boundaries.

McKnight has an unlimited travel budget as superintendent and there is no requirement that she show up for work at all. With zero oversight she is free to travel all year and spend as much time and money away from MCPS as she likes. The BOE will never check up on her. Previous superintendents enjoyed extensive national and international travel without a word from BOE. Yea

Good lord, you are really worked up about this? Its probably less than $1000 and she's potentially creating interesting collaborative opportunities for students.

If she were head of a large company or a non profit, would you question it?

There are boondoggles out there, but this ain't one.

$1,000? Like as much as a teacher spends on classroom materials? Nothing to you, a lot to teachers.

Yup. Get a life. You don't actually care about the travel budget.

OP I love how you don't want us getting "minority" scholarships at your white institutions but you also don't want us getting opportunities at HBCUs. Go away.

And this is why no one wants to run for BOE or Superintendent anywhere.

Because they can’t handle reality?

Teachers care. Especially the under paid minority teachers who keep leaving mcps.

You don’t really support minority teachers either.

I would think McKnight visiting her HBCU alma mater would be part of an effort to recruit more minority teachers.
