Most business travel is unnecessary and many companies have significantly cut back except MCPS.

I would have an issue with any administrator doing this regardless of race.  You can play the race game but it’s not about race but what is a good use of mcps money, taxpayer money and what it accomplished.   You have yet to say what it accomplished.  [/quote]

Different poster, but no one here knows if this accomplished anything or not.  Its an assumption either way unless you get a debrief from Dr. McKnight of possibly Central Office.  The question that should be asked is why are people assuming ill will about Dr. MCKnight and this trip or this portion her trip with no evidence.

I agree with the posters who are supporting McKnight because I honestly don’t get the hate folks have for her.  She obviously trying to engage with the district community, she has a Strategic plan, is improving communication,  working to get kids caught up, and working with all parties on the benchmark curroculum.  Like what really do folks want from her.[/quote]

Back to the topic, how did this trip/college visit benefit MCPS.

Actually, she isn't trying to engage with the district community.  She's holding public meetings, unmasked in large groups.  That might be ok for your family, but not ours.  She's done nothing to engage the community we are in, in terms of schooling.

You fail to see the issue that she traveled to her home town where her family is on tax payer money to have a few minute meeting with the head of the school.  [b]She didn't meet with students or anyone else per the photograph.[/b]  It is also offensive she is traveling and being unmasked regardless of who she is when she should be setting a good example during covid.  There are plenty of local HBCU that have much larger teacher programs that would make far more sense to visit.  There are also plenty of  other colleges with large teacher programs locally.  How many teachers do you think she actually recruited.  Given the distance, its not like she's getting student volunteers to work in the school... this was a personal trip on tax payer money.  If you cannot see that as an issue and all you can do is scream racism, maybe you should look  at yourself.[/quote]
