Was it 14-4 after 3 because of the yellow cards or did the yellow cards start getting called after the big lead when SJC tried to get back in it? |
After the big lead. SJC didn’t get a card until 15s left in game. |
A player often becomes a coach favorite by, among other things, 1) working hard, 2) being coachable, 3) being a good teammate, and 4) hitting her marks in both practices and games. |
Why would any coach still play favorites in the playoffs when they are trying to win an elusive title? Sounds like there are some holes in that SSSAS culture, from this SSSAS parent's post. |
Or the poster's child isn't playing |
GC had started to put swing players in before all of the cards started coming. |
No, not making some point about SSSAS culture. Just making the obvious point that players become a coach favorite by consistently demonstrating certain qualities that are important to the coach. |
GC played the best they have all year. They dominated on the draw control and played like a team. Two things they hadn't done all season. GC defense made it tough on SJC when they had the ball. Refs definitely giving SJC a lot of leeway and calls their way the second half, but overall the officiating was good. SJC is a young team with some talent and I think they will be a force in two years. |
The draw dominance early on was huge, their draw girl did a great job placing it. GC was firing the ball just wide a lot in the second half even with the card issues. The calls themselves were not necessarily the problem, it was the carding only GC because that part wasn't balanced. |
|
Interesting considering usually the calls go in favor of GC depending on which refs are officiating. Glad they got it together with a team mentality for this game. It's too bad SJC didn't make it more competitive. It would have been nice to have a challenger to the trophy. But there is always next year! |
The bottom line is that the current “favorites “ were pretty much decided in 4th grade. Maybe the others are as good or almost as good. Maybe not but who knows because the favorites play. The other players see the field very little if at all. It is what it is |
Any thoughts on how Potomac vs Saints will go tomorrow? I would say Potomac has a chance if they really want it but Saints have a chip on their shoulder after a tough championship loss last weekend. |
Is this a VISSA Game? That will be a great rematch. I know the Potomac girls are itching for a big win to end their close tight knit groups season on a high note but also see them failing under these big stakes when it gets close. If the saints are hot it’s a different ball game however. Really can go either way just depends on what team brings there better A game. |
Will it be streamed anywhere? |
