With Love, Meghan on Netflix

The whole situation they are in is Edward and Wallis 2.0 Relying on royal cachet for opportunities. Grifting off actually rich friends to help them along. It’s fascinating. Meghan likes to talk about amazing women like she’s one but truly she’s a D list “celebrity” who simply married an A lister. She wants to be Amal Clooney without the actual work.

So desperate. Probably orchestrated by Meghan and John’s D list gold digger wife.

It’s the facially disingenuous crybabying she and he did re being victims overall and particularly of racism that is not something people SHOULD let go of. Her fans have decided that criticism of Markle is racist and sexist and as a mixed race woman of a similar age, I am not taking that shit anymore. She is the fakest public figure I’ve ever seen. Name a faker one, any era, sex, ethnicity.

She is a liar, she is an obvious fake mean girl, and unlike her, I have no love for antiquated ideas like monarchies. I like many DCUMers have a consistent set of political beliefs that don’t involve this grotesque prancing while pretending to be a new kind of public servant. She thought she could be a superstar in a tiara, say she’s in missions of mercy that are clearly pure attention hoing with no evidence that she or he donate real funds, and now has decided she can be queen of America, but can’t build a good product. Tut. Get outta here with this crap.

She’s like 45 years old and can’t shut up about the “traumatic” 6 months of her life she got to live in a castle with a team of staff waiting on her hand and foot. Nobody is buying this fake victim woke DEI race hustler crap anymore.

This exactly the weird, intense hatred I don't get. Dislike? Fine. You guys are so, so mad. Seriously. Why? So she's annoying, she's fake, she's whiny. And? You are acting like she personally harmed you. She's just a celeb. She's not even hard to ignore, as she's not a very successful celeb.

I still don't get it.

It's not hard to understand that middle class people don't want to hear whining from people who have the top 1 percent of wealth. That and the Oprah interview while Phillip was dying, is why many people can't stand Markle or Harry.

This explains why you don't like her. That is fine.

It does not explain why you and others have this active, intense anger at her. It's like the paradoxical relationships done fans have with Taylor Swift, but with anger instead of love.

This woman is a stranger to you. If you wanted to avoid her altogether, it wouldn't be very hard. Go into Netflix and give the show a thumbs down. Done. But you don't want to avoid her. You seek out content and conversations about her in order to rage at her.

Why? What did she do to you?

She did not do anything to me but I find her annoying just like I find many other actors annoying. If people are going to put themselves on TV people have a right to an opinion. No one in Des Moines has an opinion of me because I don't spend my time in the media playing victim. Funny how that works.

One way to not have the public have an opinion of you is by not appeating on TV. That's just a suggestion Meghan.

She claimed she wanted privacy then went on Oprah to complain about how no one gives her privacy after she asked for privacy. It is annoying and comes off as very entitled. If you want privacy stop appearing on TV.

I agree. There is a video on You Tube of Wallis and Edward from around 1969 or 1970. The whole video is them claiming that the royal family held them back from doing anything while also claiming that they were successful with limited opportunities in the Caribbean. Wallis stated multiple times that they were not allowed to do anything.

They both appeared as broken and sad people fidgeting and frowning, even when they claim to have been happy. It's a fascinating watch for the Meghan and Harry parallel.

You’re posting on a 110-page thread about Meghan Markle and wondering why Meghan Markle is getting promo opportunities?

I agree Edward and Wallis are a very good parallel. But I don't think they ever provoked the amount of rage from American audiences that Meghan does. And Edward actually abdicated. I feel like Americans were less enamored with the British royals back then. A lot of the anger at Meghan seems to be that she is depriving the royals of Harry, a second son with no real role anyway. While Wallis actually caused a monarch to abdicate, leading to a change in the line if succession. Plus Edward was cozy with the Nazis, and Wallis was a famously nasty. They were extremely unlikable, but people didn't get particularly invested.

Now it feels like people are weirdly invested in the BRF and then offended in their behalf. Which I don't get. I'm an American, the BRF is like a weird vestigial tail to me. A tabloid oddity. Not an institution I'm invested in. I think it's funny how mad they are about Meghan.

I don’t even know who or what that is.

I feel like you just lost any authority to comment on popular culture. Go read an Us Weekly and then come back when you are more educated on the matter at hand!

In more ways than one. Both divorcees. Mysterious courting and introduction facilitated by questionable persons. Both sound like honeypot operations to me, domineering honeypots preying on weak male royalty.

“By the end of 1934, Edward was irretrievably besotted with Wallis, finding her domineering manner and abrasive irreverence toward his position appealing; in the words of his official biographer, he became "slavishly dependent" on her. According to Wallis, it was during a cruise on Lord Moyne's private yacht Rosaura in August 1934 that she fell in love with Edward. At an evening party in Buckingham Palace, he introduced her to his mother; his father was outraged, primarily on account of her marital history, as divorced people were generally excluded from court. Edward showered Wallis with money and jewels, and in February 1935, and again later in the year, he holidayed with her in Europe. His courtiers became increasingly alarmed as the affair began to interfere with his official duties.”

This failed reality show only has 27-33% on rotten tomatoes. How mortifying.

People don’t like Harry and Meghan because they act so put out after literally cutting off the hand that feeds them. They act annoyed they weren’t embraced as A list Hollywood and haven’t been handed billions in branding deals etc. they’ve brought mediocrity and been called out for bad work ethic. Just go away into obscurity but they can’t as they live like billionaires but are lowly 10s of millionaires. What turned me off entirely was they acted as such victims on Oprah, then nothing was going their way so tried to recreate Diana’s death with the fake NYC to bring them back into the narrative as victims. They were not even wearing seat belts and there was no high speed chase. They are grifters.

But there's a big difference. Edward wasn't allowed to marry her and stay - he was forced to abdicate.

Fast fwd and MM is welcomed with open arms, even Charles walking her down the aisle bc her family is so messed up. But it was not enough and they chose to leave. IMO they are even less sympathetic - no institution was trying to keep them apart

I can only speak for myself. I am not offended on behalf of the royals. I do, however have a hard time listening to filthy rich people complain about their problems. This goes for any filthy rich people, not just these two. I just want to yell at them to take a drive around the city and see all the people less fortunate than them or go hang out at a hospital and see all the people whose worlds are torn apart due to illness. But they really think they are victims. Wash, poor me in Montecito.

My exception to this rule is when rich athletes complain about their games or league rules. I have no problem with that since the athletes risk their body and health every time they step on the court/ field.

I am not the person you are responding to but I'm chiming in. I get this, but I don't see how Harry & Meghan are any different from other whiny rich people. But they get way more vitriol.

I also don't think she complained in this series. The Oprah interview was pretty whiny, I'll give you that.
