You can field BY teams in SY leagues using the same paperwork as SY teams.

If a separate youngers BY league was put together BY clubs would just do paperwork for that league.

So many people (ECNL Hats) think they have it all figured out. There's so many different potential outcomes that could occur.

The fact is that MLSN GA DPL haven't made a statement on BY or SY. Which means BY is still whats going to happen.

Different leagues needing different eligibility (registration) due to different cutoffs. It will require a separate database which clubs will not be able to manage well, even if they agree to it. You must have a July kid and/or have no basic understanding of how a club and leagues operate.

Short term I can see mlsn trying to make it work. I don’t think it makes it past a year before switching.

-we’re on a top little team in SoCal. Us and other top teams around us are stacked with q1/q2 kids. When these teams switch to school year I don’t see a scenario where mlsn is ok with choosing the 5th best kids from these rosters. This year works because the school year ulittles haven’t made the roster adjustments.

-mlsn is going to play Ecnl teams at the big tournaments. Is that gap really that big where they can play 5 months up and remain dominant? I don’t think so. When these teams start losing to Ecnl what will these parents do?

-switch to August was the nail in the cofffin. August/September are our two largest birth months in the US. Switching to August added the second largest birth month and widened the playing up gap for mlsn from 4 to 5 months.

-mlsn has nothing to gain from staying by other than resistance to change. By not changing they are giving Ecnl boys a huge lifeline. If they do change the status quo remains.

Because the entire pipeline and the main girls elite league and second best boys league are going august 1st. SY also takes away trap players and is the more preferred cutoff based on survey data.

Because the three largest governing bodies announced they are switching to SY… that’s why people said the age groups are changing.

ECNL is governed by us club that’s why they will change…

GA/MLSN have not said which is why people are speculating.

It’s just difficult to have your top teams be BY and your other teams be SY not because it’s tough to keep track of it but because club directors are lazy.
