It was one parent and one community member. Don’t lump the rest of us in with them.

And I thought the person who responded to the Langley parent was spot on - very respectful and noted that all our tax dollars go to FCPS as a whole. I agree that at some point, western Great Falls will need to be rezoned due to the bus situation (I am a Langley parent).

Because they know it’s obvious they should be moved.

I wouldn’t be surprised if western Great Falls/Forestville ES ends up at Herndon in 10-15 years. If there is growth in Tysons and kids need to be moved from McLean and Marshall to Langley, I could see a scenario where that pushes Langley over capacity and the furthest west school is then pushed out as a result. But we’re not there yet and probably won’t be there in 5 years either. It’s a ways off, but still within the realm of possibility.

Are you estimating Forestville ES, and Great Falls ES (on the western side) would be moved?
Not the PP, but I think Forestville will be rezoned in 5 year as or so.

I agree and stand with Langley Mommy. She is right. Also that other woman who said Reid and her accomplice was gaslighting, that the opportunities exist at each school, and that all schools offer equal learning experiences. However, she started the meeting off highlighting how FCPS are 7 of the top 10 for VA (Langley being number 2)! It was pure gaslighting. Everyone knows Langley is a great school, we pay a premium for the great school, and dont want to be moved out based on the whims of a school board that should be focused on other issues.

No, you can just send your kid to Herndon, and us Langley parents will find private transportation.

Don’t sleep on the town of Herndon growth. Lots of developments in the works.

Who? The minorities? You’re maligning those minorities as racist? Are they not the right kind of minority for you?

Often, people become so liberal that they pop out on the other side as hard core republicans. You may have gone through that wormhole.

It might not even be Marshall/McLean needing relief. The Spring Hill island brings high density housing which is usually rented by young, childless professionals who work in Tysons. A lot of families might start flocking for a Langley address.

What bus situation? Has something changed in the last twenty years with that transportation that we’re not aware of? Because the only change I’m aware of is expanding the bridge at gtp and 495 to make the commute easier.

I wonder if the Westbriar island sticking out like a sore thumb in the middle school/high school maps is making them nervous. It’s so close to Colvin Run and looks almost the exact shape of the Forestville cutout into Herndon.

Grumble grumble.

DP. That's exactly what the Langley parents did tonight, along with whine whine scream scream and rant rant.

And we will continue to do it, to ensure the board knows we will not tolerate any changes in the future.

Nothing has changed, but one of he goals is to reduce transit times. Western GF meets that definition. They are building a huge apartment complex in Tysons (Spring Hill Rd, on the Vienna side) and while I think it is currently zoned for Marshall, I could totally see it rezoned to Langley if Marshall becomes overcrowded.

It's probably 5-10 years rather than 10-15 years, but it looks like the writing is on the wall.

I love that this is the truth, but Langley mommy is freaking out about something that isn't even proposed. Let other people speak. Oakton families have questions, too.

Langley mommy sounds like she spent time in a gulag in Siberia and it turned her into a raving lunatic.

DP. Just pointing out that you love throwing “racist” around, but your comment is directly racist.

That was not me.

Uh huh, we totally believe you. If someone wants to stay at Langley they’re capital letter racists. But when somebody starts making fun of a minority speaker tonight saying she spent time in the gulag, you yuck it up.

I’m just calling you out for your hypocrisy. Do better.

That was the sense I got, especially since they they said they would let the kids remain at Langley if they could provide their own transportation.
