LOL, I agree about Miranda except Che is neither cool nor funny except in the delusional universe of this show. I’ve never seen a less funny alleged comedy show.

Article is hilarious! Che is awful

I feel terrible for Sara Ramirez.

She was probably excited to play a nonbinary character on such a massive show but should have pulled out based on the script.

I don’t understand the dislike. The character is a bit larger than life and not fleshed out as well as they could be, but not unlikable. The twitter memes in article didnt track.

Steve has always been nice. We haven’t seen much of him, but it makes Miranda very unlikeable to pretty much not care at all that she’s married already. They haven’t been having sex so maybe he’s open to an open relationship. I don’t know but they need to address it.

Also, Carrie’s outfit to the Diwali function was not a saree. Why did they keep calling it that?

I didn’t have an issue with Che until the scene where they had sex with Miranda in Carrie’s kitchen. Looking at it strictly from Che’s standpoint, they went to their subordinate’s home to drop off a gift while the subordinate was recovering from major surgery. Instead of doing a respectful drop off and good bye (especially since the subordinate was sleeping), Che encouraged their subordinate’s caregiver to get intoxicated while she was responsible for caring for the subordinate, and then had sex with her in the kitchen while everyone was ignoring the subordinate’s medical needs. It was completely reckless and irresponsible, and showed a deep disrespect for their subordinate.

I mean really, if you ignore everything else, how would you feel if your boss came into your home while you were sleeping and you woke up to them having sex with someone? I think most people would find that completely inappropriate.

I’d be so pissed at Miranda for that stunt. The least they could have done was move out of Carrie’s eye sight.

I know plenty of non-“gritty” people over the age of 50 in real life who still smoke.

You completely missed my point. Lots of types of people smoke in real life. In media, however, esp. American media, in our current timeframe, it’s typically shown as someone grittier: incarcerated, mafia, criminals, etc.

Let’s see if we can come up with 100 people in American shows from 2021 or ‘22 (based on a present time period) where a main character who isn’t “gritty” smokes frequently.

Let’s not, because we don’t give a shyt? My goodness, it’s a SHOW.

Yes! This annoyed me to. They were shopping for lenghas, the type of which were shown on the shown are normally worn at weddings. Sari's or Salwar Kalmeez are more appropriate for a family Diwali celebration.

But there’s something about watching the characters age (somewhat) gracefully and deal with their various issues, however token they seem. I’ll keep watching

same here. People are up in arms about a show that's always been like this.

I don't get it. Che was great at the funeral.

That character sucks sooooo bad

I wonder if the Che ire is because they act like an alpha and don’t question their actions like women are ingrained to. I don’t like the kitchen hook up moment from the standpoint of it being while Miranda was “on duty” for her healing friend, but I can see them setting up a scene like that on past scenes with a binary couple and it causing less of a splash too. If they had been having an affair or met up later it would play differently. But I also don’t think Che is into Miranda, they see her need and are playing/being generous. I get that.

Note: I’m not calling Che a woman, was sloppy writing.

Yes, on that one occasion, but their podcast and "comedy" are beyond crass and stupid. Also pointless in the context of the show. They also suck all the oxygen out of any scene they're in and don't vibe with the rest of the cast.

Okay? I think you're not the target audience. There are a lot of othere shows -- and other threads -- though. Maybe you could go over there?

The target audience is NOT “woke” millennials. They THINK they’re going to get them to watch with this nonsense, but no way.

The target audience are the original viewers. And we just want to see what happens to these people. The end. None of this ridiculous writing.

Why do you think this is the only thing that defines the target audience?

Because this show is old. And it had a cult following. No one new is tuning in.

My co-workers in their 20s and 30s are watching. Kim Kardashian is watching. It has been the biggest view audience of a series debut in HBOMax's entire history, and the viewership went up by more than an additional 50% for the second show. That's not all people that look like you and think like you. There just aren't that many of you.

It will be interesting to see where this goes in Nielsen demographics. I'll update the thread when I see it.

Meanwhile, you are (of course) entitled to your opinion. I'd encourage you to consider that there is a lot of the world going on that apparently you don't see or don't understand, but it's still there. Maybe it would be interesting to just let it be and not necessarily try to shut it down.

Well, if Kim Kardashian is watching, you know it must be good.

No, you know it is being watched. "No one new is tuning in" was the error.

Reading comprehension is hard for some people.

I wish readers would stop posting this snarky response on DCUM. It adds nothing to the convo. Besides, it would be "reading comprehension is difficult . . . . not hard".
