Very unlikely to be pro bono.

This is what I think.

Definitely being bankrolled by some organization or else the father has money from 'other sources'.

Conviction in these cases is VERY difficult to achieve. Many jurisdictions avoid bringing non-stranger cases. Do NOT assume a slam dunk conviction - a plea bargain downwards is typical.

MD is NOT paying for private counsel, to correct a prior poster. A public defender had been provided for one.

The father supposedly paying for the private lawyer... what does he do for a living? Not true. In an interview with Tucker Carlson, the firm representing would NOT say who was paying them. He said the father retained him, but when asked if the father was paying, the attorney refused to answer.

Thank you. How hard is it to find out what the father does for a living? Just curious.

Possible that the father is also here illegally? Gets income under the table/cash. No records.

I don't know. Did you google it?

I did and I can't find it. A pp said he/she has 3 kids in MCPSNOW and when questioned about whether he was truly local said that is what the school system was called

This has been posted up thread. MCPSNOW does snow predictions. You would know if you lived in the area. That is the point the mom of 3 kids was making.

From one of the attorneys: 'There is evidence that will come out later, I believe that this was a planned encounter with this young lady and at least one of these gentlemen,' Jezic explained.

Can’t wait to see what that evidence is. How will these attorneys twist this situation to make it appear that it was preplanned and consensual?
And, his statement is just a tad bit less than definitive having used the words, “I believe” in it. My bet - no such evidence exists.

Someone on this thread accidentally typed "lynch moms." I'm going to start using this phrase. It describes the people who just can't believe these suspects get lawyers, and just can't believe we don't know the details on how much the lawyers are being paid and by whom.

They have better lawyers than the victim and they are illegals . This is riot material.

I have no idea if the girl agreed to sex with one of the boys--but, that is a long way from oral, vaginal, and anal "relations" with two boys. I hardly think it was consensual. Be realistic here.

This is the typical defense in rape cases. A conviction for rape is by no means a given, people need to know that.

The first defense is - wasn't me. Due to cameras and forensics they have gone to the second - she wanted it.

It is not a statutory case given the ages.

Immigration aside, this may serve as an education for the public on sex assault prosecution. Given the publicity, it is unlikely that this victim will be charged with making a false report, also not as rare as you might think, and all evidence to the contrary quite often.

I'm the pp who said I would become irate if this is being bankrolled by a group supported by taxpayers. Why? Yes, they are entitled to a public defender. But the way our system works is that if you want someone of higher caliber than the public defender, you pay for your own attorney. Jezic isn't a public defender. So if he is taking taxpayer money in a private capacity, that's a serious issue. We aren't an angry mob for demanding that public funds be used in a transparent manner. This isn't a banana republic. Or isn't supposed to be anyway.

If they were friends they may have texted each other. I don't believe for one minute this was consensual. No way, not based on the details in the police report.

If you don't know what this is, you don't belong on this forum. Go back to political forum.

I do not know what this is and I do have a child in MCPS

So I don't cast moral blame on attorneys because they do the dirty work that's required for the system to function as the founders intended. I will, however, become totally irate if the rumors are true regarding who is footing the legal bill and their use of taxpayer money.

But, I don't find Jezic's arguments particularly compelling. He's trying to portray his client as a hardworking, quiet, humble and beleaguered young teen who was falsely accused. But what humble, hardworking kid do you know that has threesomes in the bathroom stall at 9am? Sorry, not buying it.

Plus, he's totally trashing the young 14 year old victim by attacking her character. They've now got a Latina woman in their law firm defending the scumbag rapist. Saw them on tv last night. Shame on them!!

This.

I agree that the rapist needs a defense attorney but trashing this girl after all she's been through is disgusting.

Link to latina lawyer defending perp? What show?
