Am I the only one that thinks that Strauss-Kahn was set up?

The whole story sounds very fishy. This guy is a known ladies man and was leading the polls to unseat his major political and personal rival Sarkozy. Planting that young beautiful African maid in the hotel and then having her forge the claim seems like a very Sarkozy thing to do. And remember, DGSE routinely does operations like these against political foes..remember Rainbow Warrior?

I think he's just a perv. It happens.

Apparently a lot of French people do.

But then again, he is a known ladies man. Some of those guys don't think that no means no.

I kind of agree but we're doubting the victim as much as anything. Then again, there's Brittany Norwood.

He was not set up. He planted the idea that he may be set up someday because he knew he was already behaving atrociously and was hedging his bet that he might get caught.

He totally deserves what he is getting. There is justice in the world after all.

Dear French-Sarkozième,
Your anti-African racialism is offensive.

No, it wasn't a setup.

He got caught. The police didn't even know who he was when they were initially pursuing him.

Why would we, Americans, want to set him up? Most Americans didn't know who he was prior to the arrest. Maybe you think the Chinese were setting him up in the hopes of wrestling control of the IMF from Europe? Do you think it was Sarkozy? Maybe it's a plot to give Merkel a stroke when the Chinese assume control of the IMF?

More evidence here

""We cannot rule out the thought of a trap," Henri de Raincourt, minister for overseas co-operation in President Nicolas Sarkozy's government, said in a broadcast interview.

I refuse to have a personal opinion and say, 'Yes it was a trap,' or 'No, it wasn't a trap.' I don't know," he said.

This is no more "evidence" that he was set up than this thread is.

And then there is this. The first people to break the news were Sarkozy operatives. Did Dominique love women? Of course. He hung out with some of the most beautiful women in DC, you should have seen him at Milano, and that was the perfect way for that little Napoleon to bring him down. Also check out the victim. Seems pretty strange that she just happens to be a beautiful Afro-French in that hotel in his suite. Have you SEEN the typical hotel maid? Makes it more plausible that she was a DGSE operative.

So you think the courts and police in NY are on the Sarkozy payroll? And the judge who decided not to set bail based on the evidence so far? Really?

No. I'm just saying it seems possible that she faked the attempted attack.

I'm with you, OP. Everything just seems too perfectly aligned and the whole circus against DSK is ridiculous. It's not a crime to be a ladies man, yet most on this forum keep saying "victim was raped" and some other nonsense. Firstly, there was no rape! Secondly, he is being accused of attempted rape, with nothing yet proven. Everything is very fishy, just like the lululemon story. As it might be that he actually made an advance on the maid and upon refusal tried to force himself onto her, it is equally plausible that she got paid on a set-up to enter his room, seduce him and then claim she was attacked.

Even if he was set up, he is a scum bag. The employee at the IMF that he had an "affair" with sent a letter to the IMF saying he has pursued her "aggressively" and that she doubted his ability to lead an international agency based on his actions. If he didn't behave in this way toward women then a 'set up' could not have worked in the first place. But I don't think it was a set up....

Add to the fact that France's issues with race would make David Duke blush why not make the operative a Black woman to really destroy him. It is alll too perfect.
