Right....

Let me give you a clue - if you ever find yourself exclaiming that you aren't a racist...you are probably a racist.

Don't worry, you have plenty of company.

This is bullying to the nth degree. You are labeled a racist if you disagree with schools teaching BLM ideology. Many of us don’t believe in viewing everything through a racial lens. The fact that there is so much divisive vitriol on this thread demonstrates the divisiveness of the BLM movement. It is dividing our society and will never bring us together. There are other ways to go about teaching people not to be racist and the BLM ideology and CRT is not the way to do it.

Awww, all racists hate it when you call them a racist. So I’ll do it again. You are unequivocally a racist. Be better. At least your kids in public schools will be more educated and empathetic than you.

NP

I was trying to come up with a cutting response to this BS, but then decided to laugh instead. You “everyone is a racist!” folks are certainly entertaining. It’s like Oprah - “You’re a racist! And you’re a racist! And you’re a racist!!”

Thanks for that. Amusing end to a long week.

And, the most racist people are screaming others are racist without knowing them.

The first five principles and number eight are fine. The rest are subject to interpretation.

11. Black Villages: We are committed to disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement.....

I accept families that may have their own unique family structure but that does not mean I want to actively try to disrupt the traditional nuclear family structure. I happen to think children are best served with two parents that love them (I don't care whether it is man/woman, 2 women, 2 men). Single parenthood sometimes happen and no one should be punished for it, but it is not the ideal situation in which to raise kids. It creates hardship for parents and kids.

BLM ought to be promoting the notion of the nuclear family instead of shooting it down. They also should also be promoting the idea that Black on Black violence needs to end if they really believe that Black Lives Matter. That is one of the biggest problems in the Black community and it hasn’t been acknowledged.

+1. It is an undeniable fact that the demise of the nuclear family- especially the presence of dad in the home- has destroyed the Black community more than so-called racism ever could.

Treating a widow like she is not a family and denying her family resources is criminal.

Enslavement destroyed the Black nuclear family back in the 1600s. What do you think was behind enslavement?

It is now the 2000’s. Don’t you think that Black people are capable of having nuclear families? Why do you underestimate Black people?

It’s so much easier to call someone a racist than to engage in civil discourse.

I mostly was wondering if this was school specific to my kid’s MS, and it appears that is the case.

I appreciate all the responses, on both sides. It will actually help me formulate a more concise argument when I raise this with admin as to why I find it problematic that they spent an hour on this in HERD/Advisory today.

FWIW, I am not White. I am Latina. (Not Latinx, because that is not even a real word in Spanish).

And just like that the world passed you by.

Damn shame. But you can't make people change. Which is why it is crucial to teach the kids better from the start.

Agreed. Just not BLM or CRT propaganda. I am all for teaching kids to treat everyone with respect. Everyone. White people should respect Black people. Black people should respect Jews and transgender people. Asians should respect Black people. And on and on. And no one should be made to feel bad about their skin color, religion or gender. And calling people racists because they don’t agree with BLM ideology is bullying.

You don’t get to demand schools teach everything you believe in. You can’t demand they not teach evolution or that the world is flat just because you believe it.

Enslavement destroyed the Black nuclear family back in the 1600s. What do you think was behind enslavement?

I’m not justifying slavery at all.....but West Africans sold their own kind for money too.
And since we’re on a history lesson....the Portuguese enslaved more blacks in Brazil than the British brought to the US.

NP. But to say that blacks haven’t been able to build a Family since the 1600s is a gross misrepresentation of history, and negates a generation of blacks from the mid 1800s and onward.

Because BLM isn’t just about black people it’s about building a better society for all and widows should be considered a family.

It didn't stop in the 1800s. Generations of Black men were incarcerated, breaking up that nuclear family, and leaving employment options minimal. This still happens in many parts of the US.

Good news you can be on Latina time and not be considered lazy.

NP, but it's clear your definition of a racist is someone with hate in their heart. That's not the working definition of racism being used.

There is a Mississippi sherif that said during a press conference that parole didn’t work because they needed to keep model prisoners to wash their cars and it’s no secret that we need them to pick up trash. Apparently some prisoners work in town/city trash trucks for free.

If you seriously taught kindergarteners about homosexuality and transgender issues then I really hope you get fired. And that's not even considering the political indoctrination which should also be a fireable offense.

I cannot believe what this country has come to that this is happening in our public schools.

It's amazing what we're discovering this year because of being virtual. There's a 4th grade teacher in my friend's ES that has "Children and adults are equals" in his Twitter bio. That sounds like something a child molester would say.

Omg I would not send my kids to public if possible in this climate. Who knows what kooks are passing to them...there's always been kooks, but w/ today's extremisms I can only imagine the kookiness and warped views will multiply. The young college grads are not seeing a middle at all these days.
