Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
|
My kid said they spent one period doing this today in MS.
I am wondering if this is school-specific or MCPS-wide. Just looking to get more info before I approach the principal with my questions/concerns. |
| ? is that what it's really called? What MS? |
| Not at our school. |

I could understand teaching this if the goal was to educate students on the stated goals of BLM as a political movement, but one suspects the goal is to promote allegiance among students to those principles.
If it is the latter, the teacher and any administrators who are responsible need to be fired immediately. |
Yeah it is a huge issue in our society today and it would make sense for kids to learn about it, especially since there is a lot of confusion about it. Many don’t even know that Black Lives Matter is an organization. But no my kids have been taught this. |
What possible concern would you have with this? Wow. |
Along with this racist: https://twitter.com/marya_hay/status/1230546821346471939?s=20 It's insane to think that MPCS pays this woman to spread this kind of hate. |
| I think there is a difference between the movement and the organization, and that few people understand/know that there is a difference. |
I think it must be school specific. |
Pray tell, why? THIS is what you have a problem with? https://www.dcareaeducators4socialjustice.org/black-lives-matter/13-guiding-principles Innocent stuff. Yet, you get triggered. Why is that? |
I can think of several valid concerns. |
What is the difference? |
MCPS is going all in on CRT (critical race theory) which is extremely racist. They probably won't call it that though. Instead look for SEL (social emotional learning) and culturally responsive curriculum. And it's being done during the 8th period connect time. |
Articulate them then. I see no issues at all. They're pretty generic in terms of messages like more empathy, tolerance and love. What on EARTH would your "valid" concerns be? |
