Minority women who struggle with dating...

Ah yes! High maintenance, A woman has to be that or crazy if she isn't flirting with any guy paying attention to her especially if he's white. I love the faint scent if racism in 2016.

NP. Black woman. That's not at all what pp said but, OK. You are verifying the ABM stereotype with these comments.

People should, can and do date and marry whomever they like. As long as they understand that the choices they make today, will impact the kinds of choices they will be able to make later, I DGAF. You like it, I love it.

OOps, that should be ABW stereotype, but, you get the gist of the message

What is the ABW stereotype?

That translates to Asian women having the biggest pool of people to marry. Asian women also tend to be thin and age well so they can still attract mates even when they get older.

African Americans have the lowest marriage rates. More African American men are in prison than college. There is a disproportionate number of well educated African American women than African American men. Plus many African American women only want to marry African men. That translates to African American women having the smallest pool of men to marry and reason why they may struggle to find a mate.

You are late to the party. This has already been discussed and in some cases debunked.

NP. I didn't see it debunked anywhere. Care to quote the post where it was debunked? What I read were posts by a couple of women who do not seem to understand statistics getting very defensive.

Ha! DP who read the entire thread. Adding this post to all the rest complaining about black women being more selective than Asian women, I'd have to agree that the pool for educated AA women is smaller but reach a very different conclusion about who's being defensive about it. Somehow it translates into failure though DCUM is chock full of women who followed the successful white guy standard and got burned. Lives ruined, even.

Black women aren't choosing white men even when it means they marry later or stay single. Boo fucking hoo.

Reading this thread only confirms my own choice. Married an AA man at 36, ten years in, satisfied as all get out. Naysayers can keep perusing the Match ads claiming they're open to whatever comes along.

I don't think anyone cares if you die single and childless. It is just a baffling choice for those of us who value family, which many AAs don't. It's like watching someone choose to starve to death in a restaurant because they only eat a certain vegetable that the restaurant has ran out of. It's your life and no one else is affected, but everyone thinks you're crazy.

Guess you missed the bit about pp being married to an AA man for 10 years.

Anyway, what is so baffling about someone not wanting to marry someone they are not attracted to?

I find it baffling that your family ignores single people and treats them as lepers. That is really odd.

+1
The PP seems oddly invested in the love lives and lack of reproduction in others. It's a bit bizarre.

Yea, you're not a black woman. You're a white racist and coward to boot.

Anonymous wrote:Yup. High maintenance is my guess, too. However, it's also a shame when a woman can't find a man because there just aren't any, in her community, that are at her career level. This is actually an issue nationwide, as women are now out striding men in terms of college graduation and employment rates.

There are plenty of men at the same career level. But in that culture, they either want to marry younger or marry someone that is not so career oriented. It's most certainly not an issue of there "not being any" though.

Please enlighten me of the impact my choice not to marry a white man will have on me later.

That is exactly what pp said and you are defending a stereotyping racist.

And yet, within this discussion, they're the only ones not complaining.

High Achieving early 30's black male here who is single. I have dated many of these AA high achieving women and this has been my experience. Most of them have no depth. My most common takeway is "Great you have all these degrees, you're still boring and not that interesting. Your job isn't your passion and out side of work and the common bougie minority woman activities of traveling and brunch, they're not that in tune with themselves or what they want. Some of them want a guy who is an accessory and not a partner. Others have baggage from failed relationships, or just finally discovering who they are after spending most of their 20's in school. Women are interesting, and the high achieving minority AA female is probably the most interesting in that her accomplishments are often times an inverse portrait of her self esteem when it comes to personal self worth outside of job/career/education.

I may be different though the degree thing isnt that important to me, I dont have a single woman in my family who either at least doesnt have a Masters (just one) / MD / DDS / PHD / JD or MBA from a top 10 institution. So smart women dont intimidate me, most of them just dont pass muster to the women in my life.

Er, uh, marry one of your cousins then?

Wow I guess I'm the only one who grew up thinking to marry someone I love not someone making what I make financially.

It's hard to find people that are of a similar cultural background as a minority when the pool is small.
