There are not too many women that would date a man with breasts, so I guess they were both happy with the way each other looked and somehow it worked until he could no longer remain "in the closet" so as to speak. At 65, I say go for it, whatever makes you happy. Also, living with the Khardashians enabled him to partake in the miracles of plastic surgery without standing out as an oddity. To physically alter your appearance, over the years, became the norm with that family. Maybe, changing himself physically, without his family rejecting him, gave him the confidence to tell everyone the truth.

the whole thing was interested. my key take aways:
1) hopefully some transgendered kid saw the interview and feels hope for the first time at being accepted
2) Bruces' biological kids actually seem normal and thats good.
3) how come we have never seen the daughter cassie on any of the shows. Too smart?
4) Kanye the voice of reason? who knew
5) no wauy bruce is going to fit into that black dress he showed diane
6) He really needs to have his stepdaughters style him once he is a woman. He just isn't going to be very attractive otherwise.

yes

Yes, he did.

And now he's been resurrected as Belinda Jenner - femme fatale.

Omg, are you okay? You seem really invested in this. Why are you so upset? She isn't hurting you at all.

Did you sleep through Sarcasm 101, dummy?

FWIW, one of my dearest friends died of AIDS - a big time cross dresser with friends who would have gladly "cut it off" had they had the money.

This reminds me of The Soup bit "Unlikely Voice of Reason"

I think you mean you'd have to stop watching tv and surfing the net all day, if you wanted to avoid it. Oh, the hardship.

Oh, but there's more. As another example, I would also have to take my kids out of FCPS, where -- in the dark of the night -- the school board or whoever runs the show there -- is trying to institute single sex bathrooms in case one questioning, possibly transgendered 8 year old (who also happens to have a couple of publicity/ litigation happy parents) decides to make a scene about feeling "uncomfortable." (Reference: DCUM, of course!)

No, my friend, this issue has seeped far beyond TV and surfing the net. It's In.Your.Face and the Jenner interview is just one more piece of it.

I'm so sorry that these people seeking happiness in their lives, and moving to the point where they don't feel the need to kill themselves, is in your face. What a drag for you. You must be suffering so badly.

NP. Shut up. I can't stand the idea that this one group of suffering individuals is so much more oppressed then other suffering groups. There is some really horrible stuff happening, especially to young people. Let's not act like there is some special fragility to the gay, trans crowd. Sympathy for all, I say.

"These people" will never find the happiness they are seeking by adding boobs or removing body parts, because that is not what their problem really is. And meanwhile, the rest of us are supposed to pretend that what they seek to do is perfectly normal, no matter how out of touch with reality and truth the story becomes.

And you know this, how? Somehow I don't think you have befriended a single transgender person. If you actually knew a transgender person, you would know how incredibly wrong you are. But really, you don't have to personally know anyone. Just read a little. Hear what they are telling people like you, who mock them. Listen to them.

But you won't. Because you're an angry person who simply wishes to add to the mental anguish that transgender people endure. How proud you must be.

Of course sympathy for anyone suffering. But the fact is that the suicide rate among trans young people is incredibly high. So yes, there is actually evidence of fragility that is actually acted upon in the trans community. That's just a fact. I don't understand why that produces such anger in you to the point that you tell another person to shut up. But the fact that you're nasty isn't surprising.

You ever think these suicides are connected to internal turmoil and not what we do or don't do for these groups? And the suicide rate is high across the board for teens, not just the transgendered ones. Or do you care about those who are desperate for reasons other than sexual/gender orientation? Stop being counterproductive. The conversation should be about supporting all young people in pain, not just the trendy ones.

If you actually read up on the link between suicide and transgender youth, it is very closely related to how they are treated. The bullying. The rejection from families. All of it. So no, I'm sorry that you don't seem to want to see that but the truth is what it is. And this is a thread about the issues facing transgender folks, not "those who are desperate for reasons other than sexual/gender orientation." The lack of discussion about that as a whole on THIS thread is in no way an indication of what people think about that because it's not the discussion at hand here. I'm simply staying on topic. You are, I'm sure, more than welcome to start a thread on issues facing young people today. I'm sure there are quite a few people who would love to talk about that.

And I would argue that this thread is about teaching our kids not to judge anyone. This isn't the transgendered folks 15 minutes, as much as you and tabloid media want it to be. The bullying of people who are gay or transgendered is no more important to address than the subject of bullying, period. It's when we start carving out special victim groups and placing their suffering as more pressing than others that we lose the message.

Sorry you don't see that point.
