Or is it time we accept that US is fundamentally misogynistic and don’t float female candidates for president?

When Hilary ran, it was an eye opener for me - I thought however bad racism is here, the sexism is much worse. Now we have a president elect who is a convicted rapist and on video tape as saying he routinely sexually assaults women he finds attractive. He refers to female opponents in highly vulgar and vicious ways.

Now half of US states don’t have basic human reproductive rights. Maybe we do have to stop worrying about women in those states if they reelect the guy who orchestrated this fate for the .

Maybe Dems need to learn to suck up More to Billionaires in Big Tech?

I agree with you that Dems need to learn from this election but don’t think their agenda was particularly extreme.

Dems should just do what MAGAs do already, pursue their own selfish interests.

If conservative women want their daughters to be forced to give birth to infants with terrible birth defects, eff em.

If people "struggling" with inflation want to enact massive tariffs and block most immigration, thereby guaranteeing massive inflation, eff em.

If people want to let Russia retake all of Eastern Europe, eff em.

As someone who knows many people who have chosen to give birth to children who they knew would have a very short life, you are a terrible, terrible person. My friends loved their few days with their beloved kids whose bodies were broken and failed them. How the eff can you speak like this?

Good for your friends (not really, they are idiots, but that’s not the point). The point is, you can choose to carry a fetus with serious defects, and I can choose to terminate.
But we both should have that choice. It’s not your business what I choose to do with my genetic material and with my body.

Using terms like "genetic material" allows a woman to distance herself from the realities of abortion. I can see why you would do that.

No. Democrats aren’t too far left. The country is too fundamentally divided and I believe that I have nothing in common with the people who voted for Trump. They deserve what they get. Let’s stop pretending that this should be one country. I will never compromised on public health, civil rights, education, abortion, or the separation of church and state.

Stop pretending? I mean if you don't want to be part of the UNITED States of America then please leave.

Otherwise, what exactly do you propose doing - start a civil war? The people voted - a majority popular vote decided to back Republican right-leaning political policies and values. I'm sorry you don't agree with them. But aside from starting a civil war, the only only actual path forward is for you to focus on putting forth a viable Dem nominee in 2028. This is what a democracy is.

But as someone who voted for Harris as an anti-Trumper (but still in favor of more Republican right-leaning political policies and values), if the Dems don't do some soul searching and put forth a more moderate candidate in 2028 I'll likely vote red as I'm sure Trump won't be a candidate.

The Demoncrats have only out moderates up for president. Clinton, Gore, Kerry, Obama, Hilary, Biden, and Harris have all been moderates.

Agree to disagree. Either way...your only option is to put forth a viable candidate for 2028. Honestly, nobody knows what the next four years will be like. But if it's all doom and gloom as so many Dems think, then 2028 should be an easy win for Dems, right?

But then again you all thought it would be an easy win in 2024. So yes, Dems do need to do some soul searching to figure out how they can appeal to enough voters to get a win in 2028. It's going to mean stopping the anti-white male rhetoric to start, supporting more moderate policies and values.

What realities do you think women are trying to distance themselves from? The realities of choice, the realities of a better life, the realities of protecting her health.

The only thing to be seen here is your condescending attitude that makes you believe women need distance from their choices.

They even deny that a fetus is human and has parents, complete denial.

If I want to cut my legs tomorrow, healthcare should pay for it.

My body my choice.

Yes, this is my takeaway. To win, we must learn to lie like the GOP. Lie and entertain. Bread and circuses.

Voters are not interested in facts or reason or real work to make things better.

Look inward. Stop blaming voters when the problem is in the mirror.

It's easy to run on a platform of "it's the other party's fault you don't have money." It's a lot harder to actually implement policies that help people. It seems likely that Vance will get the same performance review when he runs in 2028 that Harris just got.

Pretty simple reflection. Dems just need to do two things to win.

1. Adopt better policies
2. Put forward better candidates

Agreed. That and the “woke” stuff. My 70-year-old aunt is an extreme liberal and even she said that the Dems need to stop with this stuff if they want to win.

I am 40. I have been running pro gay lesbian communities since 2003 both online and on campus. But I wan banned by fishbowl for being a bigot not supporting LGBT. 🤣

It was the GOP that has their ad about a trans basketball player on repeat loop. It’s not a big deal but they figured that would scare you into voting for them.

If it wasn’t a big deal to voters, the ad wouldn’t have had an impact on them.

Not just the older voters.

I do think this was a key issue for a lot of voters. i am an older Dem voter and voted Dem - but I am turned off by the trans athletes competing at high levels in women's sports. You are not going to convince any Republicans/Independents to switch their votes to Dem (which is what needed to happen for Kamala to win) if trans right to pummel women in sports is in your (too big) political tent.

This must have been mentioned a lot on TV for the topic to keep coming up. Sounds like propaganda to me because this subject would affect a small number of people.

Sounds like Trump did a good job making this seem like an issue to worry about.

And since when did Trump, of all people, care one bit about women in sports or women at all? Never.

I don’t think the Dems have much of a shot at national level elections unless they drop the trans stuff. Pretending that men can be women is such a fundamental lie, people will not trust us on any issues.
