APE screenshots: this is how they play to win

Or rather, the two screenshots from the ACPS group shared was the original post and the response, which was directly under it.

You will need to read the DCUM thread in full to realize who the APE person is.

Anyone on AEM knows who it is anyway. Just enough was left unscratched to make sure of that.

I’m in AEM and have no idea who it is. But that’s okay. They identified themselves as APE. That’s the important part.

It’s the one who was exceptionally nasty to other parents and teachers.

All of them?

Because I was around in 2020-22.

I don't mind being clueless here.

Fair enough. There are certainly many of them who were horrible. She was maybe the second most notorious female poster. Continued on longer than others.

And it turns out that she didn’t even have kids in K yet at that point.

Ok. I know who it is now. And it's not because someone didn't cross our her name closely enough. I still can't make it out from the screenshot.

Lol. APE is just desperate now to sweep this under the rug with any lame excuse.

It's the fact that an APE representative went to another community forum to solicit comment to influence APS' policy. And if anyone from Alexandria weighed in, shame on them.

What? They were asking how other neighboring school districts handle things. Is that really so nefarious? They even identified themselves as a member of APE.

I'm sure plenty of Arlington parents have opinions about AAP. Not sure that strange.

Since I have to spell it out with crayons:

She. solicited. Alexandria. parents. to. officially. provide. feedback. on. APS'. policy. while. it. was. open. for. public. comment. to. advance. APE's. policy. goals. Not. necessarily. the. community's. wishes.

It's unethical and slimy for outsiders to weigh in. I don't go to FCPS or LCPS' open policy comment section to weigh in on things that absolutely have no bearing on me or my children.

School board members and the system want to hear from their community only.

I can't help you if you don't see how wrong this is.

Huh? Where? I don’t see her asking this.

Read down to the end. She says, “… if anyone in this group would like to submit a positive comment, it would be appreciated”. She’s absolutely trying to get people in Alexandria to submit comments. Why else would you say that in a forum for people in Alexandria?

APE is our very own local Moms for Liberty.

Yep. If they get enough of them on the Board, I think trans rights will be in play. None of them have commented publicly about this issue, and obfuscate the issue if asked. Not even Miranda has given a straight answer, and that scares me for our kids.

Might as well have voted for Rives in that election. At least he's honest about what his stance is.

I’ll bet she sent this to Grandma and Auntie Jean to fill out.

Disgusting.

Ooh. Another comment to delete. Hope you got the screenshots!

please screenshot and email to the school board!

Anonymous wrote:I am not OP, but in another DCUM thread, Arlington Parents for Education (APE) solicited comments from a neighboring school divisions’ advocacy group to influence APS’ cellphone policy.

I don’t care how you feel about cellphones in the classroom. I don’t like them either. I however respect those who don’t agree with me in my community and will not try to influence policy by asking 5,000 “friends” from elsewhere to weigh in.

It ruins APS’ good faith efforts to engage with OUR community. We don’t need outsiders influencing our debate.

APS should stop engaging with this 501c4 immediately. They have shown again and again who they are.

The author’s name is still visible. You left just enough unscratched to make sure of that.

Historically, I haven’t been a fan of APE. But this post makes me think APE’s opposition is even more batsh*t crazy.

Asking neighboring districts how they handle tech just isn’t that big of a deal. Get a grip, OP.

Read further, the APE didn't just ask how they handle tech, she asked Alexandrians to comment in favor of away for the day in APS's survey and gave them to link! You think that's ok?

then she doesn't have kids in high school now so why is she so hell bent on taking away high school kids' phones between classes and at lunch? wait til her own kid applies to college and it's all online!!!

Oh, and here’s the second most damning part since you’re too busy to read through a whole thread.

Why not include this screenshot in the original post? Because without it, OP seems like a nutjob. 😆

It was there but the admin removed it. You're the apologist APE nutjob.

The APE's post starts off by saying thank you for letting me join this group despite being an Arlington resident, so it's a lie that she was only there because she used to live in Alexandria.

She just joined!!!

I have kids in high school and see no reason that they should have a phone at any time from first bell to last bell.

Do you really think that our kids, or even if it's a kid who has never had a phone before, could not figure out college? They don't need years to prepare for how to use a phone/tablet/website in college. They can figure it out then, in the first two minutes of college.

Anonymous wrote:All, APE Board Member here - it was brought to our attention today that earlier this week a volunteer of our group posted on an Alexandria education facebook page about edtech and SOLs. In that discussion, when a follow up question was asked about the cell phone pilot, she posted that there was a survey open for the pilot. We have confirmed with her that she thought it was apparent that the survey was intended for Arlington parents, especially as the survey asks Arlington-specific demographic questions. While her post was well intentioned, her wording did not highlight who should and should not fill out the survey. She is extremely apologetic about the confusion; nothing nefarious was intended. We want to state extremely clearly that no one outside of Arlington should have filled out the survey, and we will email the Arlington School Board to clarify that was not the intention of the original poster nor us. We stand by our support of the cell phone J-30 draft and feel strongly it can stand on its own without any outside influence. This was an individual error and a mistake and not that of any larger group effort.

That’s a pretty generous interpretation of someone actively soliciting non-Arlington residents to “submit a positive comment” via an APS survey. It may not have been officially sanctioned, but this was not miscommunication.

+1 more APE spin and lies

If their view is so popular why do they need to play dirty? Wonder where else they rounded up votes from???

You all already lost the cell phone debate. Find some other rock to kick.

We aren’t talking about cell phones. I know Rs are pretty slow but do try to keep up.

We are talking about how unethical and awful APE is. How low and dirty they are.

Most people don't care about APE and don't even know they exist. I mean do they have more than 10 people in that group? Are you scared of them? Why do you even care? Most APS parents from the south I've met are pretty ignorant and backwood regardless of their actual positions either way--The "All schools in Arlington are great" crowd.

Excuse me??!!!
Signed, APS parent "from the south"

And if they don’t, they should.

If someone is responding from a work computer during lunch in another jurisdiction, that shouldn't disqualify their comments if they are an Arlington resident.

You can say that to APS. I hope you made a comment.

You didn't need an ACPS parent who has no investment in the system to say the same.

I have a kid in high school and I see no reason why he should not have his phone between classes. If you don't want your kid to have a phone in high school, why do you let him?
