Yes, this. OP—calm down, the SB will do whatever it wants to do. Doubt many who even want phones put away all day, took the time to fill out the survey. People have too much going on. You’ll likely get your way, so just let this go.

if it didn't matter, why such a big effort by APE to influence it???

It doesn’t appear to be “such a big effort by APE” though. Someone posted in an Alexandria FB page mentioning it and APE admin posted on their own page. It got a couple likes? I really don’t think anyone really cares if HS kids have their phones all day.

Unhinged parents of early ES kids do.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on this topic. Posting in an Alex. group when someone upthread asked what Arlington was doing re: cellphones doesn’t strike me as unhinged. Sharing info, and in her own name (not being shady and posting anonymously). This isn’t some evil conspiracy by APE.

You are misrepresenting what happened. She clearly asked them to respond to the survey to support the APE position because she was concerned about people (AKA actual Arlington parents of teens/tweens) opposing it.

“ APS is gathering feedback until Oct 20. We are concerned that members of the school board are not behind it enough and could not approve it. Opponents are organizing against it so if anyone in this group wants to submit a positive comment, that would be much appreciated!!”

Haven’t you done the same? Sending an email to a certain PTA listserve flagging the opportunity to provide feedback? You don’t have to be an APS parent to join that specific PTA or even live in Arlington. So by you sending the info out, are you any different?

“Hi —PTA Community:

I am flagging this opportunity to Share Your Input on the Revised Cell Phone Policy.

On Monday, APS reposted a revised version of the Policy J-30, Student Use of Cell Phones and Personal Electronic Communication Devices. APS is seeking staff and community input by Oct. 20.”

Do Alexandria parents even join Arlington PTAs? Asking for many friends. 99.9% of PTA members are parents of the students who go to the school. The rest would be alumni. There may be a few randos and I would be concerned about them. But I doubt that posting to an Alexandria listserv will get even 1% of the audience you're looking for. Let alone forwarding the survey to mommy and her 3 friends.

OP email wasn’t to an Alex PTA listserve, it was to an Arlington special education PTA listserve (so not tied to a certain school). My point was that anyone can join that special education listserve (doesn’t have to be an APS parent, could be anyone interested in advocating for special education). So if anyone (not just arlington folks) can join that list serve, how is OPs message to them sharing the survey link any different?

And why are you assuming her "friends and family" do not live in Arlington?

Put down your phone and move on with your life.

Why would you assume they do live in Arlington? We already know she's shameless about soliciting responses from outsiders. Also, I wonder how many times she retook the survey.

Whyyyyyy does this lady care so much about taking away high schoolers' phones when her own kids are not even in high school?

We’ve all seen her behavior on AEM. It’s pretty clear why.

No I haven't, can you tell us for those of us who don't follow it?

No, I don’t solicit random people from another county to skew results on an APS survey.

But anyone (not just Arlington residents) can join the Arlington special education pta. So since you sent an email to that group, aren’t you then inadvertently sending the survey link to people that may not be Arlington residents?

I've gotten this message from multiple PTAs. What's the problem? This is very common. PTAs are made up of parents and teachers from the school community and no one is asking them to comment in a specific way.

It's light years away from APE harvesting comments in favor of its agenda from Alexandria parents. But you knew that Mr/Ms. APE.

"Harvesting comments" has such a sinister ring to it. Sounds like it belongs somewhere on the scale of wickedness between "ballot harvesting" and "harvesting organs."

Such a harsh way to describe "posting a link to a public survey in the comment section of a Facebook post."

I don't know who you think you're talking to but your attempt to slander a group that represents special needs kids is really really gross. The SEPTA website is very clear - "Arlington SEPTA supports families, teachers and staff across all Arlington Public Schools." It took me 2 seconds to google and find that. You could have done that too if you weren't more interested in spreading lies about a good group that has nothing to do with this conversation at all. You people are low.

except that's not an accurate description of what she did. Harvesting comments is. The APEs' efforts to pretend what happened didn't happen are getting more and more funny. More please! I'm here all day for this.

What lies were spread about that group? I’m actually IN that group because I DO have a special needs student in arlington. I was merely stating that OP also shared the cellphone survey link to that group, and therefore was (inadvertently) sending to people that may not live in arlington (which was what OP was upset about).

Did Septa solicit people to respond negatively to the new policy? Because that’s what APE did but the opposite.

No, the email in septa did not say fill out the survey this was or that way. So I agree it’s not a complete apples to apples comparison. But it could have been sent to (gasp) Alexandria residents who might be in Arlington’s septa group for support.

Ma'am, you don't need to clarify that you're here all day for this. That has been obvious for the past day or so. Everyone can see that this highly personal and misguided fight is consuming you. Normally I suggest that you retire the sock puppets and go do some real work, but I'm sort of into the highly public meltdown you're having, so I invite you to continue.

I’m so very confused. What slander took place? No one said anyone in septa did anything. Only that OP sent the email to septa. That’s literally a fact.
