They need to understand that one of these 2 men WILL win no matter how much we hate the two party system, so they need to vote for the one they hate the least.

They need to understand that Trump will be so much worse than Biden with the Israel/Palestine war. I am seeing comments like “How hard is it to call for a ceasefire?” Ugh. They don’t understand how complicated this situation is and the history. They don’t understand what Biden can/can’t do.

They need to understand that, although Biden’s attempts at border control haven’t panned out as well as we would like, he is trying and republicans are blocking him. We don’t want to go back to kids in cages, separated families, and government shutdowns over Trump’s “build a wall” hissy fit.

We are preaching to the choir on dcum. The only way to reach Gen Z is on tiktok, so let’s go!

And while you’re lecturing them about what “they need to understand” what do you expect to learn? How do you expect to change? How will you address their issues?

Because lecturing isn’t a notoriously successful way of making young people do what you want.

Call it lecturing, I don’t care at this point. Go to TikTok and search these issues. The lack of understanding is astonishing. They think Biden has the authority to simply end any war by saying so.

I know that this age bracket doesn’t typically turn out to vote, but they did last time and helped Biden win. Democrats need the youth vote as the republicans need the boomers.

Do you have Gen Z children?

Yes, I have 3. As of now, they will vote for Biden, but they are getting sucked into the algorithms. Based in what they are seeing on TikTok, they think Trump will win.

Trump will win, at least unless something changes dramatically. It is shocking that the Democrats cannot defeat a diaper-wearing corrupt racist with raging dementia, but that’s where we are now.

I mean, Democrats deprived these kids of an education for two years. This is what is typically called “natural consequences.”

You mean when Trump was president the dems over ruled him and forced the schools to close? You must be very happy they legalize drugs.

Give me a break. The entire world shut down. Schools shut down around the world. This wasn’t a democrat thing. It was a global pandemic that killed millions.

And what schools closed for 2 years? I am a teacher. My students were virtual until mid-November 2020. Then they were hybrid until mid March, and they came back full time after that. So what schools exactly did democratic legislators force to close for 2 years?

Tiktok is demoralizing and lying propaganda. I don't understand people who have it on their phones. Propaganda is of course everywhere, but it is Tiktok's main purpose and should be outlawed.

It’s a tool of the Chinese state. Essentially since the US decided to abandon the education of Gen Z, the Chinese state stepped in to take advantage.

How do we fix this??

Teach them to understand the source of the information. Always follow the money. Who is providing the information and why should you listen to them.

Y'all forget America is imploding and feeding on itself. You think this is not lost on GenZ ???

They can't afford housing. They can't afford food. They can't afford medical care. They can't afford college. They're forced to live in their mother's basement. Every single member of GenZ knows someone who has died from fentanyl overdose (unless they're living under a rock).

You think the disparity between the future they're facing vs. what was possible in their grandparent's generation is lost on them?

Who is kidding whom? Of course they don't want to vote. They're not stupid. They see the forest while y'all are lost looking at the trees.

These are also social media myths going around. Gen Z has the same opportunities that millennials, X, and yes, even Boomers had. This is all being fed into a funnel and there's literally no reality here. Their grandparents actually had it worse with regards to interest rates, inflation, but if I go online today I can find 100 Boomer bashing non facts ,particularly about money and affordability that are just inhaled.

You’re insane.

+100. I don’t know what the PP is smoking but Gen Z does not have the same opportunities as even the millennials…..housing is unaffordable, college is insanely expensive, healthcare costs go up every year, no one is taking climate change seriously and we are too busy sending billions to wars abroad instead of focusing on our problems at home.

+1

When Boomers were young, they didn’t all know someone in their extended social circle who had died of an overdose/fentanyl poisoning. That’s the reality of Gen Z.

No, we lost people to cancers and other diseases that are cured largely now. Then we lost a f- ton of people to AIDS.
Biden didn't give you Fentanyl. Look at the system, understand how pain pills were distributed whole sale for decades and how corporations got rich doing it, and which political party helps that.
Addiction is a disease, yes, but remember that kid who used snap chat to buy a pill , one pill, and maybe the only pill he ever took, used his own agency to do that. Why? Or the 34 year old lawyer- he decided to buy the oxycontin or whatever fully knowing the risk. So blame the internet, social media, lack of education in schools and everywhere about drugs, but if there wasn't a demand there would be no supply- regardless from where. This isn't your generation's lament. It didn't happen on its own.

I’m gen x, not gen z. And when I was young, I didn’t know nearly as many dead young peers as every gen z person I know does. None of us did. No gen x kid could point to as many dead young peers as gen z does. That’s reflected in mortality statistics so don’t go out and pretend it’s not true so you can ignore the profound problems gen z faces that we never, ever saw.

No. Beyond the first month or two when no one knew what was going on, schools remained open in Europe, Asia, and much of the world.

And please don't equate "virtual" school with real school.

Places like MCPS and DCPS were extremists. And it's cost an entire generation of kids dearly. Whether they were in kindergarten or in high school.

I do not trust progressives with the common welfare. At all. They are ideological extremists who will very enthusiastically throw kids under the bus. Not to mention most of the country that doesn't fit into their "oppressed" narrative.

Doesn't mean I care for Republicans. Think they're a##holes too. But I get the disdain for Democrats these days.

I am a genXer but I didn’t see much critical thinking among my generation when masks and closures and vaccines were forced - yes forced- on us.
Fwiw I am vaccinated so don’t call me an antivaxxer
Anyway, it’s not clear which generation has any critical thinking skills
I say most people just don’t

Maybe you should move to one of those conservative utopias you think are so much better. From someone who grew up in one of them, your contempt for liberals (and one narrow type of them) is really weird to watch.

Why can’t Gen Z see the big picture? Are you all just crazy not to see the wall we are about to hit if Trump gets in again? He’s a dictator and a criminal. How on earth can you all stay on the sidelines and say you aren’t going to vote in the upcoming election because of X, Y, or Z? How can you dare not vote and basically hand the presidential election to Trump, which is what he’s counting on…your apathy and confusion….because you actually think he’s a better candidate and forget everything else he stands for or has done to disrupt peace, including the insurrection?

Oh, shut up. Biden is complicit in Israel’s killing tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians and he will deservedly pay a steep price in the election. It didn’t have to be this way, but he has demonstrated that he’s a senile old man and a puppet of a bunch of land-grabbing religious zealots.

Nothing. But our votes cannot be bought by voting for the lesser evil. If you don’t listen to us begging you to stop the bombing of innocent children we will not vote for you and you will lose. That is not our fault. We will withhold our votes so that next time you take us seriously and actually take our grievances into account.
