College and University Discussion

“ But private universities should be free to do as they please. Notre Dame is little cultish. But so what? ”
That’s fine. ND wants to be a great research university. So let ND forego all federal dollars for research. I don’t want my taxes going to encourage a school that seems to proudly admit legacy admissions. Even more particularly when you know they are very much slanted towards one religious group. |
Awww your feelings hurt? 😂 |
Not at all. Are you feeling threatened? |
|
How about Harvard? |
44-0!! |
59.3% and declining, actually. So adjust your perspective. |
You best Navy, not Ohio State. 😂 |
ND is going to e just fine lol, whether they beat Ohio State or not. |
Good for you. Already came up with your rationalization when they lose. |
I was thinking the same thing. |
ND has had good years and bad years in football. That's not going to change. But I sense, this might possibly be a good year. Like I said, if they lose to USC or Ohio, I'll be disappointed, but ND will still be in the hearts of millions and millions of fans...more than many other schools can boast. That's why they can remain independent. I know that irks you lol. |
And there’s the other crutch you fall back on. Imagined envy. |
+1 good grief. Some people really need a primer on data analysis. K-12 population is about 50% white, and as a PP stated, declining. The whole of the US population isn't in college, let alone applying to ND, so the population demographics as a whole has no bearing on ND diversity or its reflection of the student population. If you think ND should reflect the overall STUDENT population, then ND should be about 50% white in a few years. And as far as reflecting the Catholic population in the US, white Catholics are also declining, while the Hispanic catholic population is not. Let's be honest... ND doesn't want it to become majority Hispanic catholic. |
| Yes but Asians and whites attend college at a rate greater than their current percentage of population. Hispanics and other URMs do not. It will likely stay that way for some time. |
Let’s be honest here. It’s millions and millions of Catholics. That’s by the reason by far for a national following. That’s not meant as a negative more as a matter of fact. It is a unique situation for sure and they probably can remain independent provided that other top programs/conferences don’t shut them out. It’s going to be interesting to see who wins this tug of war with the super-conferences coming into existence. Will they or the networks have the greatest say as to which schools play each other. We will know soon when ND’s television contract is up for renewal. We’ll see how good the money is. |
