It's just the trends of the day, nothing to get your panties in a bunch about.

UMC? I agree it's basic as can be but it's a $100K+ investment.

Golden goose sneakers $500
Goyard bag $1200
Cartier love bracelets (multiple metals, diamond one for 10 year anniversary) $7K each plus $17K for the diamond one: let's say $38K for the stack of 4 that everyone wears
Stations necklace $35K to $65K
Stupid GG belt $500
Expensive highlights $500 x 4/year $2K

What am I missing? Why would someone only get highlights 4 times a year?

I was thinking the same thing! My hair costs probably $3600 or more per year to maintain cuts highlights etc

Also I have a gorgeous stations necklace and it did not cost anywhere near the cost above

I am most comfortable in jeans or sweats, but when I attend a school event, I dress. The kids are expected to dress, and I do as well. I'd take a little bit of extra jewelry over parents that roll into school looking like they just got out of bed. If my kid has to put on dress shoes, then I will too.

Are you an attractive woman?

Lol. I’m just spot reading out of curiosity, but this is such white people aspiration. Grace Kelly and Kate Middleton. Oh la la. I guess it’s to be expected, for those white ladies here on private school forum.

Okay, racist.

None of this can be DC. The only meaningful status at DC private schools is your job. No one cares about cars or jewelry.

I'm not white and I think the way they dress and behave is something to aspire to. Who do you think they should be emulating? Please don't tell me Michelle Obama either, because everything I've seen her wear since leaving the White House makes me roll my eyes.

But this is going to derail this thread, so maybe not.

Walmart does have the best leggings. They last through thick and thing and have strong elastic that doesn't move if you are hiking or doing yoga. My DD loves her Lulu and Vuori. Me - Walmart any day if I actually want active and comfy leggings.

I wouldn’t call a great Cartier love Bengal multi stack coupled with a Bottega Jodie or even an Hermes bag, overdressed. It’s just a beautiful look. Status symbols? Maybe. But let’s be honest, if you like fashion, then you’re happy to see them. If you don’t care about fashion, you don’t notice them.

What I love about a multiple Cartier stack and a Louis Vuitton purse for example, is it you can parent with casual sweats and still look great and not shabby.

You don't need them often if they blend or look ok with your natural color. At this point I only get them 2x/year. I still probably spend $2000/year on my hair when you include tips (this includes haircuts).

Rest assured, no one cares about your six-figure jobs. Lol. In 2023 the haves are billionaires honey, and yes, people do notice your fashion. I’ve been told even men make fun of other men who looks scrappy at work.
